i was reading a couple articles about the legalization of medicinal weed, and was thinking to myself, why does it have to be medicinal? i mean, if the ill people smoking it legally arent going crazy from it, and none have died, then what makes people think healthy people will? so many campaigns have set there sites on legalizing medicinal weed, that its no wonder weed is still illegal, soon its gonna end up becoming a pharmacy drug, and all hopes of full legalization will disappear, we should be campaigning to fully legalize weed, everywhere in the world, after all, amsterdam did it and nothing bad has come of it, -(hell if anything a fuckload of good came out of it, all the dutch ppl i kno r safe as fuck, and if weed was legal in england alot more ppl would be too, including me,) so why campaign for medicinal weed to be legalized when you could campaign for weed to be completely legal? i just dont get it....

I think that's what they eventually want to do, have it available for anyone, but right now, they are just focused on the one task at hand and trying to get help for the medical users first, then I'm sure they will focus on 100% legalization.

One step at a time, and they are focusing on the most important right now. :)

Unfortunatley, in many places, especially america. Full legalization isn't somthing that is going to happen any time soon. So the choice we have, vote FOR medical weed, or vote against it. and id much rather it be available to patients who need it. this will build americas trust in cannabis as a healing herb and it will be looked at as an all healing herb and not just a scummy drug... baby steps my friend. baby steps.

Legalizing cannabis for medical reasons is a lot easier to justify to voters who are still pretty conservative.

Of course I just LOOOVE the double standard with alcohol and how people self-medicate their woes away with that stuff to no end, and look down on us cannabis users as a bunch of addicts.

Ugh, don't even get me started.

I would like to see the following happen immediately:
-Full legalization of cannabis for medical purposes all over the world
-Decriminalization of posession, cultivation, etc. at the very least to acknowledge that cannabis use, even if it is still not fully legal, is a nonviolent crime and not worth anything worse than the equivalent of a speeding ticket.

Then let a bit of time pass...let the public see that OMG society hasn't broken down!!! Wow... who'da thunk...

i totally agree tho bob, there isnt a difference between smoking to relax or smoking to releive pain, but like they also say in the simpsons, cannabis is only illegal to those who enjoy it... but i dont see why it should be illegal for those who smoke to relax or whatever, i mean, they would do alot more damage to themselves and others if they were on alchohol instead, people know cannabis isnt as dangerous, but now as its being found as a painkiller/cure for all sorts of things, the possibility of it being legal for use in the sense alchohol is used is very small indeed, - i think alchohol should be swapped with cannabis, to better suit the dangers, and the effects...

Pharmeacutical companies would be up shit creek without a paddle if cannabis were legal. We couldn't have that now, could we? Everyone knows cannabis is safer than alcohol, and even cigarettes for that matter. It's just business.

But we just have to take it a step at a time.. anything regarding its medicinal use is seen as a positive.. so hopefully, one day, the cruel bastards that make up the laws here will have a change of heart. Or die off, and put a younger generation in control. :D Wishful thinking.

yeh, true, but what im saying is the more we make it a 'medicinal drug' the more people will think of it as that, and then the less people will listen to us when we start to say 'oh yeh, and we want to smoke it for fun too' they will b like, sorry, its gotta be given to patients, or its a waste, - i dunno, im just thinkin into the future lol or at least tryin to...

Eh, once it's to the point where it's used to relieve headaches, then medicinal use and recreational use will have effectively become the same thing. Some lawyer in California got a prescription for stress relief. Stress? Who doesn't have any stress in their lives? EVERYBODY has stress in their lives, at least from time to time. Medicinal use is the doorway through which recreational use might eventually walk. Hell, for that lawyer and his stress, it's already here.

If the Government was smart enough they should Tax it and make a kill.

Well, (if you're old enough) did you do anything about the insanity of illegal cannabis today? Did you vote? Getting the old b*stards out of office and the new rascals in, can make a difference! New people, new ideas. I'm 59 and when I was a kid, you could get YEARS in prison for a joint or a seed. I'm now a "California legal" medical user. Legal, voted on, change! Even if your state has no marijuana proposals on the ballot, vote to put in new people. The current republican fiasco is the greatest gift to the "third parties". There is a real chance for the Greens, the Libertarians and other smaller parties to get their folks in, for a change, in the local elections! VOTE!

Denis Peron the author of Prop 215 which was approved by the voters of California to become Health and Safety Code section 11362.5 (who I used to live with) has repeatedly stated that all cannabis use is medicinal....
