Getting stoned and voting- been doing both for about the same number of years! Don't be the stereotypic, apathetic, do-nothing stoner. Throw yourself a voting party and go vote stoned with your friends!

Vote, Vote, Vote!

Dear ,

"Wow" is all we can say. This is going to be one close election. And not just Congressional races--the polls show that many local races are going to be close too. So make sure you vote tomorrow (Tuesday). And get your friends, family, and co-workers to vote. You can get more information on where to vote here. Re-arrange your schedule today so you can vote tomorrow. Make a goal of reminding at least five people to vote--and drag them into the voting booth if you have to.

Watch your inbox later this week for Drug Policy Alliance Network's analysis of the election results and what they mean for drug policy reform.

More Information

1) Our 2006 Congressional Voter Guide lets you know how your member of Congress voted on drug policy reform issues. Vote Smart is a good non-partisan web site for finding out where candidates stand on a variety of issues.

2) Support ballot measures that reform drug laws, such as measures in Colorado (Amendment 44) and Nevada (Question 7) to eliminate criminal penalties for small amounts of marijuana, and a measure in South Dakota (Measure 4) to legalize medical marijuana. Oppose ballot measures that escalate the war on drugs, such as a measure in Arizona (Proposition 301) to deny drug treatment to people arrested for possession of methamphetamine.

3) Help people exercise their right to vote, and make sure every vote is counted. Volunteer for organizations assisting voters and monitoring voting. Get more information here and here.

In the latest edition of CC, [Cannabis Culture magazine] they lay out who would best represent lealization, or who has a record of at least some support of it.

Good info to know....

i am not voting today for three reasons. 1) i am not registered at my current address, 2) because iowa has really generic, low-key candidates and 3) i have to work all day through tomorrow morning and i have a ton of stuff to do at work. pretty lame reasons, but iowa isn't exactly a hotbed of political activity. i think iowa just wants to keep focusing on agriculture and farming because thats our main industry and they don't really publicize much about anything else during the election. i realize that it gets certain people a spot in congress and the house and what not, but we just have really generic candidates, one of whom i emailed and asked a question about legalization of cannabis and they didn't even email me back, not even a form letter. so yeah, i'm not voting, but i think everyone should.

when it's taken into account, that only a couple percent of voters can even name their own Congressman, and very few can even name the three branches of government, etc.., (not to mention 'hanging chads' :D) ... "low voter turnout" may be a real blessing ... :smokin:
