View Full Version : Does my plant even seem like a real MJ plant?

Hi, this is my first grow (from bagseed). I have one plant about a week old. She has 3 sets of leaves counting the original ones but none of them are serrated and the undersides have a dark purple hue and the stem is somewhat reddish. I have it in American Seed Seed Starter Mix-Sphagnum peat, horticultual vermiculite, perlite, wetting agent and lime for PH balance, under a 150watt cfl(within 2 inches). I had a lot more seeds planted but only the one sprouted(due to me-I tried prying the shells off after they failed to germinate quickly, and I think I F-ed them up). I plan on spending money on good seeds but I'm gonna wait until after my live and learn some first grow is done. I know I should have pics posted, I'll try to get them on later, I had to take them with my cell and I live in the boonies where I don't get good service so my phone won't send them to the computer right now.

Well at least you'll find out what you've been smoking. But seriously, I have also killed a lot of seedlings by touching them when they were just surfacing, but at least you didn't kill quality seeds like I did.

You can definitely get a purple underside of your leaves with cannabis.
I've been trying to take pics of some seedlings that have that trait but my camera won't focus that close, piece of junk.

Thanks Stinkyattic, I haven't read much about the purple undersides on the boards and was worried it was a nute/light/water problem

Like the part about prying the shells off when they didn't pop fast enough. Wouldn't have thought of that myself.
I've "helped" them off before if they've been sprouted for longer than a day and havent shed themselves.

the purple underside may happen regardless, like stinky said its a trait, (a part of the genetics) the first set of leaves called cotyledons are ALWAYS rounded, the next ones should be serrated... good luck

It can express easier when the temps are low, just like forcing the purple bud color on strains that are not normally purple.

Tulip, honey, those aren't the best photos, but I don't think what you have there is pot. The cotyledons (seed leaves) look way too fat and round, but let her grow a bit more to be sure.

If you look in the 2nd picture down, you can see the cotyledons-they are thin, the other leaves are somewhat blocking the view of them, but it not being pot is the same thing I was thinking. The other leaves aren't serrated. I just can't figure out how the hell anything else grew in my cup. I know it was pot seeds I planted but this plant leaves me completely stumped. I thought about just trashing it and planting new seeds but I kinda want to see what exactly this turns out to be.Oh well I'll be sending away some money to seed boutique tomorrow for some good ones.

that sucks that ur plant isnt MJ but hey, at least you learnt some things along the way so when you go spend money on real seeds you will probably have better luck.

Definitely not cannabis. The first set of true leaves on your seedling is perfectly round; they should be blade-shaped.

could still be pot. I've had a fucked up looking seedling before, from when I pulled off the seed shell. Gotta be careful with that shit. Anyhow, keep growing it. It might be pot, esp if you pulled the seed out of a bag of pot.
