okay, I've never tried scrog before, but Ive decided to give it a go for my next grow and am starting my mother plants soon, the strains will be white russian and bubblegum. I have read a fair bit about it but I want to make everything perfect for this grow, and there are a lot of misleading sources on the web so if your gunna give me advice could it be from personal knowledge. I'm goin to take 6 clones in a 1m2 area with a 400hps/MH. I reckon the wire net will be about 3ft2. I wasn't sure whether it would be better to use chicken wire with 3 inch gaps or 2 inch. I was thinking of having the net at 12inches, but if you think less would suit more for my area and no of plants let me know. Also one quick question. Do you train, i.e. pull the branches back under the net after you've switched to 12/12 aswell as before, if so for how long? if anyone can answer these that'l be a great help. i've never bothered to do scrog untill now, it always seemed like a lot of effort.

you should read the link below its from the faq from overgrow.
http://www.drugs-forum.com/growfaq/766.htm
think most is covered in that link if running 1 plant per sq ft of screen almost all your training is done in the first few weeks of flowering and veg time is short about 2 weeks or long enough for the plants to just penetrate the screen if running fewer plants you would have to train some in veg and have a little more veg time if you do not time switching to flowering just right you can easily underfill or overfill the screen and it may take a few grows of growing one strain to get it just right.
instead of actuall having one large screen you can also have smaller screens that add up to the same amount of area per example attaching a 1 by 3 ft screen to a single hydro unit or soil container each holding 3 clones gives you a removable unit that can be removed from a cab to allow easier training and it also allows you to have different stages of development in each stage so you could have 1 finishing flowering and another just starting

Hmm, I would think about running about 1 plant for every 2 SQF, but that is not set in stone, but it can become a jungle before you know it. Well, you will continue tying down the branches threw the stretch during the first 2 to 3 weeks in flower and then it is really a matter of just making sure you are allowing enough light to get to the bud sights by making sure fan leaves aren't blocking them. Some cut them, which I don't suggest, or pen them down with paper clips. You also want to make sure you are getting good air movement under the screen once it starts to get jungle like down there or it can become too humid and cause mold and a play ground for pest. You can trim the undergrowth, but don't just hack every thing off, but make sure to get old leaves out of there fairly quick and you can clip all the bud sights down there because they will not be getting any light once the screen is full so they will just be taking production power from the main buds. Some place a little fan blowing under the screen once it becomes full above to promote air movement.
Make sure you have a method to be able to flush your plants, because remember you won't be carrying 6 plants with a screen to the sink to flush, and you want some water run off when watering IMO and you need to have a method to keep things clean.
Also, you don't have to pull all of the branches under the screen, you can tie them down to the screen. It is extremely hard trying to pull a branch back out of the screen when you find out that you didn't give some other branches, or new branches enough room and may have to start over lapping. This way you just un tie the branch if you need to reposition. Make sure that you follow some kind of pattern as well when laying, or tying down the branches, it will make it allot easier, like doing something like a twirling star pattern, or something to help you keep it organized.
Hope this helps some.
