 Hey im growing white widow (two of em) there looking good, bit of nut burn but there looking better, anyway down to buiness.
i want to LST one of them and just grow the other and if you could answer these questions id really appriciate it lads and gals.
1) There bout 10inch and there side shooting like mother bitch's is it abit late to LST?
2) will the LST slow down the growth at all, or will i be ok with a plant that will just be slightly pruned (only 1 light, 1 grow room, 1 light cycle)
3) ive read up on LST and i kno the basics (for the support tie after first node so it dont snap and then bend a couple of nodes up) but when it comes to fan leaves and the side shoots (which i believe make the colas) which ones would i be tying back (fan leaves, side shoots, both)??? and is there a rule for tying the, like tie the fan leaves across and only the side shoots slightly? this is the only thing i can think of

cheers, all help will be appriciated alot

I LST'd the hell out of one plant and it got so used to it after a while, I could have done balloon animals with it.

Yeah, my one looked a little droopy for a couple of days now and then, after a vigorous LST session.

Dunno, didn't do that, just LST'd the stem back and forth, and poked the fan leaves behind the little budsites and they stayed there.

1) Nah, should be fine. Just make sure to be careful when bending it, you might want to do it gradually to get it used to the shape.

2)Doesn't slow down growth at all. In fact, under our HPS light, the leaves and top are turned back toward the light in only a few hours.

3)What I did was tie the plant over first. Then the side shoots from the crotches of the leaves grew up to form a new canopy of tops. I just bent thos back away from the center to even the canopy out. You can tie the new tops down sideways too to get them to form side shoots as well. Take a look at the grow log in my sig to see a LST in progress. We just started training like 3 weeks ago and look at the difference it made.

Yeah, bend the leaves back behind the bud sites. Also you can bend the shoots that come up from the very bottom behind some branches to position them to get light withought tying. Like use branches to hold other things in the place they need to be.

Yeah, you could almost think I'd FIM'd this one, the way the side branches caught up with the main cola.

LST was a lot of fun too, but I don't need it this time, got great height in my room.

Here's a pic of one just tied down for the first time and another pic of it like a few hours later when the tops had already started to point slightly up.

cheers for info, when bending would u say do it in 2 sessions 45degrees and the same again. or even less, if less how many times would u expect me to reach that 90degrees. Also seen as though ive got 2 plants due to mummy not letting me have more im really scared its just gonna snap n then ill b like fuck... should have left it. Another thing, when i sed will it slow the growth down n u lot sed no, does this mean i can expect it to start flowering at the same time as the WW. cheers

You can flower it whenever you want to, LST'ing is just a technique to maximize yeild and reduce height. You can veg longer if you LST because you can keep it short, but you don't have to veg longer.

would that decrease the yiel alot, basically i dont have much time, i want it to be harvested just after xmas. is it worth LST or will i get a bigger yield by leaving it.
I know topping it will slow down the process but would i want to prune it, if so how would you recommend i prune it.
cheers

if you have a plant and let it grow with no training.

now once it's like a foot tall if you LSTed it and flowered two days after do you think it would get a bigger yeild than if you just left it. LEss? the same?

interesting. i dont know

if your going to LST do both or your going to end up with one plant a foot or more taller than the other one which will be a nightmare belive me cus you`ll have to move your light up to acomadate the "tall" one and the LSTed one will be miles away easyer to just do both, 10inches is quite big have you not thought about just flowering, i started my grapefruit when they were about 8 and there about 4foot now, gettin cut tomorrow yipee!!

If trained correctly you could get more but you should realy give a plant a week to recover before flowering in my opinion:rasta:

just remember LSTing is super easy and very straight forward.

you bend and tie. Bend and tie. just dont risk snapping stems

you dont HAVE to do anything with the fan leafs, side shoots or main shoots.

personaly i trained out two side shoots to one side of the plant. then i topped and bent the main stem over the other way.

it's lookin good. heres some pics
