Hey guys/ladies,
Does anyone here find that Marijuana helps your sleep cycle?
I have had problems in my sleep cycles for years, I can't fall asleep at night and then I wake up very very tired in the morning. I will literally lie in bed for 2 or 3 hours sometimes before I fall asleep.
Well, I'm still pretty much a noob to marijuana. I started last June and I have smoked less than an ounce since that time, but maybe I'm on to something.
Anyway, I have found that when I smoke marijuana a couple of hours before I go to bed, that I:
1.) Fall asleep quickly.
2.) Have a much more sound sleep.
3.) Feel more refreshed when I wake up, not tired.
What do you guys think? Do any of y'all use marijuana as a sleep aid?
Share your thoughts/opinions please.
Thanks,
-Alan

cannabis is great sleeping aid. Go buy some valeriana from a shop also. Valeriana IS a natural sleeping aid. Combine a hot cup of valeriana with a big joint before u go to bed. Your stress will leave just like steam at boiling water lol :D:D:D

Bud breath, how the hell can you dream when your high? Even during the peak of my REM month/week I can't dream at ALL.
I can't go to sleep immediately after smoking. I just can't. I have to wait a little bit to come down and whatnot.
But yeah, I agree with your 1 and 2 points, but sometimes I'll wake up after sleeping a long time, and only feel like I wanna be sleeping more.

I think that a lot of regular stoners have gotten into the "jay before hittin' the hay" routine. I know I have. Almost every night I have a nice smoke about 2 or more hours before I plan to go to sleep.

dude, read the rest of that bullshit:
"Students who smoke marijuana get lower grades and are less likely to graduate from high school, compared with their nonsmoking peers"
fuck that. I smoke plenty and my grades are twice as good as most of my nonsmoking friends. fuck that site. just another propaganda page trying to brainwash us.

Usually i find that after i smoke and go to sleep i have the weirdest stupidest dreams. Like the time i was desperatly trying to find the ocean because i couldnt breathe on land. Other than that weed definitly helps me sleep. Oh and the study quoted above is probably inaccurate, like most studies are, because you do not know those students cappibilites before they started smoking marijuana. The stoners I know are some of the most intellegent, educated, articulate people I know.

That's because marijuana isn't toxic to your body and is kindly accepted into your cannabanoids :stoned:

I agree...even smoking before school I pay more attention and am not disruptive one bit if I'm high :)
I'm also a senior in high school and have maintained a 3.5 gpa throughout high school and am currently in my second year of computer classes at CareerTech..CCNA I & II. Yeah, fuck propoganda..it's completely obvious to our generation that marijuana isn't harmful..nor does it make someone unsuccessful in life..It is my choice to do what I want, and I want to smoke marijuana and live my life..and I don't care what anyone says, something that I do to feel better is going to have no negative impact on my life..especially when it's smoking dried flowers..

Hell yeah, me and the woman hit the bowl about an hour before we go to sleep, watch a couple of cartoons, then drop off. She has serious insomnia problems too. The doctors prescribed some pills for her, and they work, sort of. But they knock her out completely, and she wakes up from those pills and she's still in a haze, doesn't function that well. And they're addictive too. But pot...one bowl and boom, she's out and sleeps fine, wakes up refreshed. Helps her mood too, since she's not tired all the time or hazed out on the pills, and helping her mood helps MY mood. ;)

It helps me with my sleeping but it just makes me wanna smoke more when I wake up, and since I usually have school I can't do that unless I want to sleep in class.

OK, the scientists have to put in their little disclaimers so they can continue to get their funding. It's part of the "dance" they have to do to survive in the scientific world. The government still has a hand on the science world. As for pot and grades, well this study kind of puts the lie to their claims http://www.cmaj.ca/cgi/content/abstract/166/7/887 (ever think of saving these little gems that I post? I have a note book of over 200 of them now- makes a great "show and tell" among friends) I also graduated with honors and was the oldest member at the college's "stoner's table" in the cafeteria. (I was an "honored member" of the table after I showed them that a little old lady like me can still handle a 4 foot bong at a Friday night party ) I was stoned most of the time while in college and still am! I work in education ( be nice to that always smiling teacher's aide- it might be me! LOL) and am a California legal MMJ User.
I'm caring for a terminally ill person who had cancer and surgery. Before his surgery the pain was so bad that Rx drugs in huge quantities weren't touching his pain. He'd smoke and 10 mins later be happy and pain free and sleep like a baby.

There is a downside to using MJ as a sleep aid. If used habitually, it suppresses your REM cycle (there have been other posts on this, do a search). Experiment yourself and you might find that once you recover from the insomnia after daily (nightly) smoking, your dreams will come vividly rushing back. MJ induced sleep is actually a much LESS restful sleep if used habitually. It's a major reason that I limit my own use.

I toked up last night with some grav rips before bed, I wish I also had enough green to smoke right before sleep. I to have crazy dreams, but the best part is that I put my music on my 5.1 before I go to bed I just make a random playlist and go to sleep in love with my surroundings. I actually have prescription pills for my insomnia as well, Trazadone and I wake up in the morning feelings like a zombie it really sucks.

Me too.
Only stops when I'm dry - and then it freaks me out LOL
I sometimes wonder if it means I'm missing something important or just the waking memory is gone? Don't know enough about the science/biology going on there.
Been 12 years and I can count my (remembered)dreams - they are that rare - but I've alays had very little recall.

Hah, I found the same thing. I usually keep some cheaper indica strain around and smoke that before I go to bed. I found that sativa strains just made me feel more burnt out in the morning.

Indica helps me sleep, Sativa makes me want to stay awake and do stuff.
But yeah, I think the sleep is of a better quality when smoking.

if it wasn't for m/j i probably wouldn't sleep at all .
really really bad sleep disorders due to severe burns to over 90% of my body . no research studies/case studies due to lack of survivors that've been burned to this extent .
i too like others do not remember / maybe even don't have dreams since i started smoking m/j before sleeping to better my sleep patterns .
as far as m/j makin ppl. stupid it's b/s nonsense . i carried a 3.5 gpa n never brought a book home from school . if your stupid to begin with , i really don't think m/j should be used to begin with . lol .
don't knock it if it works .

I smoke every night and go to bed shortly afterwards. I usually sleep like a baby, but I have found that if I got to bed only like 1/2 high (coming down quite a bit) I have a shitty sleep. It's like my mind only stays in the stage of sleep where you almost don't think you're sleeping. It's weird.

I remember when I was new to smoking, I would get really burnt out which probably would help me sleep. But now with years of experience I don't even get that burnt out feeling. But I dont get as high, so I guess it works out.

It's hard for me to fall asleep without smoking before I go to bed. My bed is just so much more comfortable when im high, and i can fall asleep at the drop of a hate. I also feel more tired and it's harder for me to get up in the morning if i didnt smoke the night before. hard to believe but it's almost like weed makes me less lazy :D

I just added G Monster (http://www.narcomundo.com/legal-drugs/anti-anxiety-drugs/g-monster/) Sleeping aid to my supplements Program; it has helped me sleep and has been helping me recover my muscles from the brutal training that I put on my self. It gives me a little buzz before bed and that is good for me because I do not drink, since alcohol weakens athletic performance.
6 Perfect meals a day
Work 6 hours a day; 7 days a week
Sleep 8 hours a day; 7 days a week
Train 6 hours a day; 5 days a week
1 heaping tablespoon of G Monster 30 minutes before bed.
Wake up: 2 tablespoons of Metamucil (this is to remove the bi-products and soreness from my body brutal training
Immediately drop a deuce, and then have first meal.
Late Morning
1.5 hours: Boxing; Muay Thai; Jui-Jitsu
30 minutes circuit weights
3 times a week; mixing it up every time
1 hour: stretch
Post meal replacement while sitting in an ice bath
Late After Noon
1 hour: Boxing; Muay Thai; Jui-Jitsu; Wrestling
90 Minutes: Bikram Yoga or Power Yoga or Gimnastics
30 minutes: stretch
Post meal replacements while sitting in an ice bath
30 Minutes before bed I take G Monster (http://www.narcomundo.com/legal-drugs/anti-anxiety-drugs/g-monster/) to help me sleep; when training like this, my body is tired but my mind does not want to shut off; I was sitting in bed thinking and thinking. G Monster has the ability to help me relax and get the REM sleep plus the GH response to rest and recover for my next brutal day ahead of me.
I bought the G Monster from Narcomundo.com

Please be carefull. When I was in my early to mid 30's I worked out like a demon. Nothing but super sets 5 days a week. I went from benching 120 lbs to 250 lbs and looked totel ripped. From 145 lbs body weight to 180 lbs.
Then the wear and tear began to show up in my shoulders. Had one rotator cuff operated on and the doctors want to do the other. I don't want to do the other cause of the hell I went through with the first.
Glad you're getting plenty of rest. Just be carefull to not damage your body in ways that will make it hard on you as you get older, like I did.

i smoke 2hrs after waking up until i can't keep my eyes open.

When you first start smoking and before you build a tolerance you're probably going to pass out in to a deep sleep or coma for awhile even if u smoked at 2 in the afternoon, its inevitable if u smoke and ur a newbie, but then again if your just taking a hit or two you may be good.
Now a days I find that if I don't smoke for a few days that I can not sleep a wink and have the craziest ass dreams, I normally smoke before bed, "I have to smoke before bed" if not I just toss and turn. But I'm a seasoned smoker for the last 18 years, where as before I would become comatose and pass out. The different strains definitely plays a role in the high as far as being up and amped or lethargic and sleepy. I myself get pretty motivated after smoking during the day or a nice wake and bake, I find that it makes tasks more enjoyable esp tedious repetitious tasks esp cleaning "OCD" but everyone's a lil different, some people it does make lazy and confused, but they weren't working with much to begin with, and everyone has a brain fart now and again, high or sober.
It also works well for anxiety and stress or people that are very high strung and need to relax
I try to smoke as much as i can just before i sleep... it gives me some crazy ass dreams..
