ooh good question. what about your family friendowl?
my family we eat diner together alot
as far as conversatio goes, it lasts for maybe 30 seconds. usually its my dad saying something to critisize and justifies it as a 'suggestion' or 'giving advice'.
then eventually turning into an argument because i think he's full of shit. thats an everyday thing we do. but nothing big.
if anyone is full of shit its my dad. argh.
i just think its the big communication gap, and age gap and culture gap.

I think this is the case with most families... some I love to hang out with, some I can't stand to talk to for more than 5 minutes at a time.
We all ate dinner together when I still lived with my parents, but my mom always wanted us to discuss 'serious' issues and my bro and I would just spend dinner kicking each other under the table and giggling. It pissed her off so much, but looking back I appreciate all the effort she made to get us together once a day at least. Now she just calls me once a month to ask why I'm not married yet. Boo.

My family is pretty kick ass. Me, my bro and his wife don't speak much when we get together as everything to them is a sin, so I just don't talk around them or I'll be condemed to hell. :p
No reunions though, ever. There's just too many people to round so we don't bother.
We always ate dinner at the table as a family. We still do when we get together. No eating supper in front of the TV, except Sunday nights when we watched the Wonderful World of Disney then The Racoons right after.
I can't stand my mom when she's drunk though, which happens like, everytime I see her. She just rambles on and on about every single little detail and it drives me crazy! I've never been one for long coversation so I don't care much to sit there and talk about pudding or whatever for 20minutes.

My family is basically like any other disfunctional family out there. Now that I'm getting older, it gets harder and harder to relate with them on a lot of stuff. My mom's just on a completely different page than I am, but it's not like I hate her for it. She does her thing now (which is mostly church), and I'm tryin' to do mine.
All those 'gaps' crudemood mentioned are probably the reason for my distance as well. I wouldn't dare go back and get a new family, and I am blessed to have some of the family members I do, whether I appreciate them now or not.
One thing my mom has never let up on is church. She's so immersed in it that she always tries to get me to do the same. I'm not much on the idea of a religion that works more as a business, at least not now.
But, family's family. They'll be there for life, which is more than the rest of the people in my life can say.

Well I hate my mom and dad, my sister is annoying and sometimes I hate her, some times I dont. Most of the time I do. But I love my family outside of my main family. I love my big cousins, my little cousins on both mom and dad side. We all get together better and since I never felt the love of a inside family I think of the olders as my moms and dad's, well I'm the oldest male in my family thats around in this city but as for the females I think of them as my moms and all. My other side of the family lives in Texas, the other lives in California but for some reason we never go there. I keep telling them I want to fuckin go to Californ-i-a but they wont take me . I think the only reason I like California as much as I do is because my favorite artist is 2pac and because of their medical marijuana thing lol.

my imediate family is quite normal, except for my speed addicted brother and crazy mom. every summer my moms side of the family has a reunion somewhere in the texas desert. its not really a reunion as much as it is an excuse to sit in lawn chairs and drink $1500 worth of beer for a week.

When I was a kid, dinner time was at 5:30 and if one was late they had to do the dishes. So I did a lot of dishes and hated pretty much every second that I lived at home.
Yes they have reunions but I do not live on the same side of the country as my family and that is very convenient since I do not really enjoy their company. Although I do very much like talking to them on the phone, it keeps them at a distance.
I was always embarrased by my family and did not want to be seen in public with them and still don't.
If you can understand the term "Gay" without it being homosexual, that is my family. But for some reason I love them.

My family sucks.
Splintered, and full of hate.
My current family is limited to my father, my half-bro, and my father's fiance.
Everyone else is so fucked up, full of manipulation and issues.
If I had kept in contact with them, I would of killed myself.
I just want to forget they exist, and regain some faith in the decency of man.
It all sort of balances out though.
My father is a saint.
And his fiance, likewise, is mother teresa reincarnate.
And my half-bro, although filled with issues, is a good person at heart.

I not only love my family, I like them, too. If they weren't my family, they're people I'd intentionally choose as friends. That's why it's hard to be in the process of losing a sister to cancer. She's also my best friend.
I realize I've been lucky. I've had loving, supportive, intelligent parents. I've tried to model that same behavior in the family I've built, too. Both my growing-up and current family eats dinner together whever possible, and we've always done vactions and holidays together, too. Right now, my parents and aunt and sister are here with us a lot and so we're doing lots of big-group meals and having a lot of fun. I also like my husband's family. (But not as much as my own.)

In most ways, I've had the best parents anyone could ask for. Intelligent, kind, loving, supportive of most things I do, politically aware and active, comfortable financially, relatively open-minded for their age and social standing. I've been lucky.
Of course, despite my best efforts, they're slow to come around on my usage of cannabis. They do support medical marijuana, here in CA, and I believe they would vote for the full legalization/decriminalization of it and probably smoke it, too. Ah well.

My family is great. I was raised to communicate and my parents always listened to me, even if they didn't agree with me. Of course, my dad used to get pissed at me when I did stupid things and we've had some awful arguements but overall, I really appreciate everything they have done for me.

All me and my family do is scream at each other and fall out, but still I love the bastards and I wouldnt change a single one of them for anything in the world.
Family is an extension of yourself and I would sacrifice anything for any one of them, after all if you dont have a family you aint got shit sucka.
Plus we are really well off so Nyer.

Oh my god thats horrible birdgirl, caner is the worst disease of them all. My dad lost his mother to breast cancer two months after I was born and he lost both his grandfather and aunt to the same disease two months before I was born.
All my love and best wishes go to your sister.
Peace.

I love my family, they're so chill. We never sit around the table and have dinner though. I couldn't ask for a better family.
