mendo or chocolate thai

Does anyone remember either of these two strains? They were simply referred to as Mendo bud and Chocolate Thai here in the Northeast around 1983-1985. Any help out there?

mendocino madness is still available in seed form as far as I know.

Chocolate Thai, never had it but Chocolate Chunk is a Thai derivative with eathy choco flavor. And I know for a fact that there are at least 2 growers in Southern New England producing it... because I got a clone! :D

I guess my question is where did the fantastic strains of the past go? Do you ever see this anymore or is it gone forever? If you are remembering the same stuff that I do, was this stuff treated or something to give it that unbelievable smell and taste? Do you remember that smell? A luscious chocolate or toffee type of aroma. I just want to learn more about it. Where did it come from? California? And has this strain been lost?
