So my plant is in its seventh or eighth week of flower, and it is starting to grow a new type of calyx that looks different than the others. It seems to be more open, with a cluster of pistils coming out of it instead of just the two. These things seem to be forming on all of the colas. So what's the deal?

Lol, no way. But I'll try to describe it better, it's more like what a regular flower would look like, it essentially has green petals in a circle, and then this cluster of pistils coming out of it in the middle. They're near the top of the colas, and just recently formed, and don't seem to have much or any trichomes on them.

Sounds like its starting to "autoflower" - what strain is it?

I don't know the strain, but it's been flowering, so what do you mean?

The new calyxes have further formed so I can give a better description, they are basically clusters of calyxes very very close together in a circle, and all on one stalk, with many many pistils.

it is from too much heat! i have seen this many times befoe. you must back the light off a bit or get more powerful ventillation fans. i'm gonna look through my old pics to see if i can post a pic for you to compare. if its on;y at the top of the colas then its most likely from excess heat. if it's happening in other places awAy from the lighjt it could be hermies. without pics you can't know for sure!

That's be great if you could find a picture. My plant has been very stressed and not too healthy, and had excess heat and crappy ventilation, although I fixed that very recently. And there may be a ball growing on the top cola.

this isn't the best pic but i tried to circle the effected colas so you could see

Yeah it's kind of like that, although a bit to the side at the moment, and not so big, but my plant is small anyway. So that's a bad thing? Should I harvest soon if the rest of the plant seems ready, except for the new calyx clusters?

what strain? it isn't a good thing but i wouldn't harvest early because of it. if you have a 7-8week strain then check the trichs and harvest if they look howw you want(example: 70% cloudy / 30%amber). if it's a strain like white widow then i would let it go at least 9-10weeks my ww's didn't finish till the 11th week on some occaisions!! if a plant has been stressed alot throughout flowering then it could take longer than normal to finish. that is why it is so important to watch the trichs if you are not totally familiar with a plant, having flowered it many times as i am with my ww's and master kush plants. i can tell when they are ready very easily by now as i have flowered clones from the same mothers a number of times. good luck!

Cool. I don't know the strain so I guess I'll just go by the majority of the trichomes if possible.
