View Full Version : Why Are There Anti-MARIJUANA Commercials?!?!

OK, so you've seen SO many anti-marijuana commercials dating many years back, and you just started to see anti-meth ads in the last 1 or 2 years. I really don't get it?!?! I've NEVER seen a herion or crack commercial....The government is always wrong and/or stupid...Remember that ecstasy commercial back a few years about the girl who died...that was later proved bullshit...since you can't die from just MDMA.....Where are these commercials about drugs that actually KILL and RUIN people's lives?!?!
We all know 2 things: 1.) Meth, crack, and herion are deadly drugs that ruin lives and nothing good comes from them...and 2.) There are still going to always be people who try them and get hooked for reason I don't not know/understand.
There should be commercials like this on the air...."Listen kids, we know you're going to experiment with drugs at one time or another..and there is not much we can do to stop you. If you do decide to, PLEASE consider the use of a safe substance like marijuana opposed to a drug that could end up taking you down and/or killing you like meth, crack or herion. You will still be able to maintain your life the way you want, and you will not end up DEAD."
We know the government and parents don't want kids to try ANY 'drugs', but they are going to anyway, so there should a compromise based on a "Well, if your gonna..." argument that includes marijuana as a potential solution!
Sorry about the rant...I just had to let it out. I'm sick of all the bullshit in this world.

have any of yall ever seen that stupid @ss anti weed commercial with the kid thats like "i smoked some weed, and nothing happened, we just sat on pete's coach for a few hours, maybe i should go out in the real world and go to the movies or go rollerskating, call me reckless." they are trying to label buddah lovers as losers that just sit inside all day and dont have any fun. if you ask me weed only makes things like rollerskating and movies more fun, i think alot of kids are going to see this commercial and think weed is okay because nothing bad happened to the kid in the commercial.
p.s i dont really think rollerskating is fun but it was the example that they used in the commercial.

Well weed is worse because weed is harmless, intoxicating, and causes dealers to get a shit load of untaxed money. Because of weed, uncle sam hasen't been getting his fair "cut" of the cash. The same is true for heroin and crack, but weed is just a plant that should not be illegal. So it's important that they demonize it as much as possible.

Ya I've always wondered this myself, why not teach kids the dangers of things pills...robotripping mainly, that shit is so bad for you but I know a lot of dumb ass people that try stupid shit. Maybe our school should teach the dangers of all drugs, I know never in my school have I learned about drugs except in like elementary school and all they pretty much said were drugs are bad and everyone says they won't use drugs but obviously that doesn't work. Our government needs to warn the people about shit that can seriously injure or kill you rather than marijuana which they can't even bash with real facts.

Truth in advertising, nah, it'll never happen. Especially when it's typical republican propaganda.

I wish some government shithead came here and saw us all laughing at thier stupid ads. I understand they have thier own point of view, but its past that....
These people are just fuckin' stubborn, and when a marijuana proponent makes a good point, they use their power to overturn them with some ridulous fucking statement like....'well what kind of message are we sending to our kids'....Please.....online gambling is a bigger problem than marijuana...trust me I stayed in a dorm for a year.
There were kids at college that would smoke and stay in their rooms, and chill, and then those that would funnel a vodka/beer/wine mix and cause thousands in damage to the dorms (true story...not that I am against alcohol, but I do believe its a good argument for marijuana legalization).

LOL HAHA...I've never seen a cocaine ad...I think anyone would just laugh at that one anyway. They should focus more on CRACK though, that's the real problem (Stupid government AGAIN)!
As for Nevada, ya I read all the stories on the homepage to this site...very interesting. The best part is they would sell it in regulated marijuana shops. But, it would still be illegal on a Federal level, so I dunno if that would even work...they're could be raids maybe. I hope it passes too, it would be a huge step...We'll see.

Ok, I'm gonna explain it to y'all...
The reason why they focus so heavily on demonizing marijuana is because there is such a heavy focus by us (by "us" I mean the pot smoking community) to get marijuana decriminalized. No one is advocating the legalization of crack or heroin, so there's no point in making anti-crack or anti-heroin commercials.
Do you get what I'm saying?
It's like a political ad campaign. If you want to win, you have to smear your opponent. If they keep telling people marijuana is dangerous, then people will keep voting not to legalize it.

Ya, I know...that sounds correct to me...it just upsets me. I hate bullshit. Especially when all know about the bullshit, but we still can't stop the bullshit lol. This 'bullshit' I speak could potentially ruin someones life more-so than the drug itself. I guess its just hard to digest that we are always going to live in a bullshit-filled society, when we know the truth. It was almost easier when you didn't know the truth and were against the marijuana! Second thought...fuck that..if you can't beat 'em join 'em...and I hope the government and parents eventually see shit that way.

That's funny, I haven't seen any anti marijuana ads in books lately. Anywho, the Dutch government are pretty much the only government that doesn't treat cannabis users as criminals, they treat them like human beings, which is the way it should be. The anti cannabis propaganda is so ignorant it's amusing.
