Mark Steyn: Bush Hatred Flops Big (http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1270387/posts)

A couple of weeks ago, Michael Moore was touring the US offering unregistered voters incentives such as free "clean underwear" in return for a promise that they would show up at the polls. I'm not sure whose underwear he was giving away - his own or someone else's - but, if it was the former, the grateful recipients evidently accepted a pair, went and camped out in them up in the Rockies, and forgot to return to town for election day.

The swollen turn-out on Tuesday â?? the biggest since 1968 â?? killed one of Moore's most cherished myths: that if only more people voted, the natural "liberal" "progressive" nature of the American people would manifest itself. "Slackers are going to rise up in this election," he predicted. "The slacker motto is: Sleep till noon, drink beer, vote Kerry."

Well, two out of three ain't bad.

According to Moore, there are hardly any conservatives in the US, but they do a great job of persuading all the progressives to stay away from the polling booths by putting obstacles in their path, like not giving them free underwear. So the long queues reported at polls were assumed by the media to be proof of that big pro-John Kerry youth vote we always hear about. -snip-

he is such a lame piece of shit... anyhow.

I'm damn proud of my fellow americans for having the understanding to see through the smoke screen/iron curtain of hate propaganda that the democrats try to control people with.

he is right about there not being any real conservatives left. ron paul is about the only one i can think of right now.

the conservatism of today is not the conservatism of 50 years ago, it is a lot more socialist. it is basically the democrat platform.

moore is funny and makes some good points, but he's pretty deluded in general.
same thing happened here in australia-the working class and generally non conservative vote was lost to the right.
they have failed in both countries to connect with their traditional voter base.
man im votin for the fishin party next election.
i fish and i vote lol.

Actually-if bush is the so-called leader of the free world- shouldnt the rest of the free world get to vote for or against him too?

yeah, i don't get that. bush talks about his job being to bring peace and freedom to the world. last time i checked, his duty was to uphold the constitution and bill of rights. it's not our job to do anything for the world.

but these so called 'conservatives' who don't realize they're 'liberal' socialists just love bush. i don't understand why 'democrats' don't love george bush. the borders are wide open, he loves the UN, signed us back onto UNESCO, will legalize anyone who steps foot here, said he'd resign the assault weapons ban, he's exploded the size of government and he out clinton'd clinton on spending for socialist welfare policies and foreign aid...we're going into the FTAA which will dissolve our borders and he's treatied and legislated our constitution away to larger, global bodies...

democrats should love george bush.
