The preflowers should give you a clear indication of the sex of the plant. Little hairs "pistils" are females, and tiny little stalks with what looks like balls are males.... pretty simple, You might see little "pistil-like" hairs growing on the sides of the stems, but these are NOT preflowers, preflowers always show at the point where leaf stem meets the main stem. Im sure someone has posted a decent guide with pics to determine sex somewhere on this site.
Good luck with the grow!

i know about the balls and the pistils but i was just hoping to know the sex of my plants before the 'sex organs' show. im impatient right now- especially because i stressed out some of my seedlings like crazy (this is my first grow) i want to find out if they're males. :(

ok well i have searched throughout this website and I have accustomed myself to what a male preflower looks like. so far none of my plants have anything roundish-shaped growing on them so im keeping my fingers crossed!

I think you may be confused a bit man preflowers are a term for pistils that apear before you swith to flower. If there is no pistils and no balls there is no way to tell the sex.

u.g.u is correct, pre-flowers are the pistils or balls that show. But they show during long periods of Veg cycle (24/0 or 18/6 of light). Watching for preflowers is the main way people get mother plants for their clones instead of force flowering then pushing the plant back to veg which the plants don't like. Good luck with everything dutch.lover  , I hope you get all females  ...

If you spotted pistils, then the pistils you see are the pre-flowers :p . So how many female plants do you think you have?

Genrally males are taller, more stretched plants, but you never know so just wait it out. But take out any males as soon as you see them.

i will! on that note though, is there any way to keep a male seperated from all the rest and use it to pollinate a female whenever you need seeds? i live in an apartment, so its probably too small to keep the plants properly separated. what do u think?

take clippings and flower the clippings. that is the easiest way to tell.

Also i dont know what lighting you are using and periods its on for but apparantly if you use 18/6 rather than 24 hours of light it shows sex a little quicker.....I will add that in my powerplants the tallest one is female aswell.Anyway goodluck
