Today I restarted my grow (the last one I had to kill because of people working on my house), hopefully the seeds will germinate in a few days.

I've done this once before, however I had to kill the plants that were growing because I had work done on the inside of my house. So for all practical purposes i'm still 120% n00bish when it comes to growing my own so any and all suggestions on doing a successful closet grow would be appreciated.

Here's what I got so far, again - any suggestions would be appreciated.

Seeds : Bagseed from an ounce of mid-grade marijuana. I imagine that if the grower had prevented seeds from growing that it would have been more of a chronic strength.

Location: Closet Grow. The closet is about 8 feet tall and 5 feet wide so there's plenty of room for growth.

Lights: I have 4x 3400-lumen 48-inch flourscent lightbulbs. I've also got 2x 24-inch flourescent lightbulbs for side lights, but i'm not sure how strong they are.

Pots: I've got 2 very large pots (i'm not sure on the exact size, but they were the second largest they had at my hardware store and cost 9$/each) and a few small pots in case more seeds germinate than I was expecting.

Soil: General Purpose Potting Soil from Walmart/"Growing Basics" (it had both companies logos on it)

Chemicals: I bought a pack of "Jobe's Fertilizer Spikes for Beautiful Houseplants" which release slowly over 60 days. They're rated at 13-4-5

Miracle-Gro "Quick Start", a "planting & transplant starting solution" that's supposed to help stimulate root growth and prevent transplant shock. It's rated at 4-12-4

Good luck on the new grow. Your closet is about the size of mine. Not sure if you've stopped by my thread or not, but maybe you can steal some of the ideas on there. ;) I know you said you will be doing soil, so a lot of it won't apply...

The only couple things I can say is that:

...you should really focus on what kind/how many lights you are going to have. I read what you have already. They should be alright for vegging, but you will want to have something stronger for budding. Also, if you start to see any stretching with those flouro tubes, put some CFLs in them immediately to stop it.

...regarding your soil and fert choices, they are not the best, but I sure do hope they work for you. Quality supplies will give you quality results and less problems to deal with along the way.

Good luck!

Be cool.
