Would ya'll consider amtrak a reasonably secure method of transporting about 1/2 ib?

do they run any kind of security?

I recently took Amtrak from NY to DC, and didn't see any baggage inspections.

Ive been on the amtrack plenty of times and Ive never seen any searches. Also I rolled one up on a amtrack before. A lady in front of me said it smells like marijuana. I lean over in the middle isle to see who said it and I take a whiff and say yea it does smell like marijuana. Nothing ever happened, except I left my wallet on there when I got off. I toke my wallet out to get my papers out of it. Just double bag it and stash it away. Oh yea and dont go on smelling of buds.

They had bag inspections at 2 stations I've been to (LA and Oceanside, CA) for large luggage, but you should be perfectly fine with a carry on.
