Is this normal??

well my plants are appx. 3 weeks old in veg, and theyre growing something in between the main stem and the leaf stems. here are some pics. also, can i switch to 12/12 to find out what sex they are already? or do i have to wait longer???

Hehe, dude, that's perfectly normal. Those will be the branches. :)
I'd wait another week or 3 to flower.

oh ok, thanks. lol. i didnt know whether it was gonna grow anymore branches down there. this is my first time growing.
