hey guys.. i was breakin up 1 of my buds just now.. i noticed these little white dots.. there is sort of a lil white pin patch on every small section of the weed.. is this mold?? or am i just being paranoid?? i sure hope its not mold.. any input would be great..

BUT I MUST SAY AFTER LOOKIN SOME MORE SOME DID LOOK LIKE IT COULD BE WHERE there was alot of trichomes hense making it look a lil bit whiter like sugar or snow.. well i hope thats wot it is.. i think jus coz da inside of some buds is still bit soggy thats made me para as to think its mold.. anyways... how will i know for sure if it is mold?? coz i dont want to be smokinbg moldy weed??? soz bouts caps at start didnt realise.:confused:

come on guys.. is there any1 who could post a pic of moldy weed? im really unsure if these lil white bits are mold.. if it was would my bud smell really bad?? well i think i will smoke like 50 joints today so if it is the start of mold i dont waste to much haha.. well i put the most sticky buds out on my dryin rack.. i will leave them bout 8 hours n hope they dry out dome more.. im very puzzeled as the stems snapped nice and clean when i jared them up like 4weeks ago.. i open the jars everyday twice for bout 20mins a time.. i even layed the sticky buds in question out a few nites for few hours but still to this day they r soggy as fuck inside.. hmmmmmmmmmmm.. man i dont want to be smoking mold.. i would take a pic but they wont be clear enough.. could i get that sick smokin moldy bud?? coz if no1 can help me im not sure it looks like i will have to just take a chance:mad:

I fight the mold every year, you have to get it when you cut them down. Cause it really is hard to see mold when dry. except the white mold. but you can see in the pics i done.. its simply some parts look to white as if mold but they are very small bits.. like hard to see unless you really examine the bud.. i think im thinkin its mold becoz they have been in the jars up to 4 weeks now and are still very sticky n i have been readin if u put htem in jars to early they can get mold.. man im so stoned i would probly take a crap shot now.. i will take a few in the mornin when im not so stoned..so be sure to check the thread out n mabe the pics will be better helpin you determine whether or not its mold.. thanks all for ur help anyway

Its just hard for anyone to see what exactly that is from those pics. Plus, probably most of us have never or rarely seen mouldy weed before.
Now that you broke it up and there seems to be a small pile inside the bud, I'm personally thinking it's beginning to look strange.

ok cool well that bit of weed i just posted + some more has just been rolled up so fuck it i will smoke it.. but i have left al my weed out on the dryin rack and i will put them back in jars 2moro.. should be more or less totally dry.. will mold grow on the weed if its in the jar with a tiny bit of moisture in it still??? anyways mold or no mold the weed smells and tastes good. n im skint at the min so i have to smoke that shit up haha... well its my birthday in 3 mins lol so any1 who reads this thread light up a joint with me in celebration.. even if mine mabe has mold hahahaha...

If you are worried about mold on your buds you can put them in the oven till they hit 140 degrees F that is the pasturization point, or you can make honey oil. the butane method will kill anything that is there and honey oil is a great smoke anyway.

Just don't overheat them to 374F as that is the temp that THC starts thermal breakdown.

WASH YOUR JARS before reusing. (pour boiling water in them after washing)

That should give you some peace of mind.

This gives you an idea of what mold/mildew looks like on the leaves. It can look somewhat like crystals, but they look more milky and cloudy under a microscope and wont be golf balls on tees.

Having seen moldy buds before it doesn't look like mold from the pics you posted.....it does look like some very nice weed though, first thing I noticed was all the trics...looking good.

Like mentioned mold will feel like cotton and be 'powedery' as well, and most of the time it will 'rot' that part of the bud/leaf material making it feal 'mushy.'

If it doesn't resemble mold in those ways then I wouldn't worry about it too much, even after never seeing mold I knew what it was the 'first' time after seeing it, pretty evident. Just make sure to cure at least 3 weeks opening the jars once a day for a few minutes for the first week of curing to prevent mold formation, after that leave the jars shut for a few weeks....proper curing makes a world of difference. Old thread but, if you think you have white mold, perform this test. Take a "moldy" bud and gently flick it with your finger. If you see a puff of white powder then it is mold.

ive had the same thing if you can see it with the naked eye and theres a stem with a little white ball on top....looks like a pin patch like you said then yes it is mold.......i smoked it tho the weed was too dank ;)

I forgot to open a jar for days on some damp bud. It got all whitish from mold.

smoking moldy pot can KILL you ... at the very least, you can wind up in the hospital with bad chronic bronchitis ... I was in and out of hospitals for two years, (from just breathing mold spores in a car, not nearly as exposed as I would have been from smoking moldy pot) :wtf: ... bottom line, if you suspect mold, THROW IT AWAY ... it's like going to prison for a roach in your pocket, it's JUST NOT WORTH IT ... good luck with your situation ... :smokin:
