List five of your favorite horror films and why you like those you
choose, if you want to. With pagan new years eve (Halloween)
coming up I thought this might me a good thread.

(five of mine)

Texas chainsaw Massacre (original): they scared the shit out of you with out
showing you any thing it was the thought that fucked with you.

Halloween 1&2: The serial killer that lead the way for other boogie men based
horror films.

Scanners: It made me want psychic powers LOL

Audition: I couldn't believe such a sweet Asian girl could do such twisted things. http://www.jkdramas.com/movies/2004/audition/poster2.jpg

Night of the Living Dead (original): The one that set the path for new horror films what else can I say.

Lol, I saw The Exorcist when it first hit the theaters back in the 70s. I think I was like 11 or 12 years old, somewhere around there. I got so scared in some parts I had to just look away from the screen. I was really terrified! No other movie has scared me that much since then, although Alien on the big screen when it first came out (and before the plot was well-known) was also pretty scary.

Yeah for the most part I don't like horror movies, though some I'll acknowledge are well done I just hate the idea that guts and horror are the same time. There is a difference between being gross and being scary.

That being said, I'm quite fond of:

The Exorcist
Evil Dead II

The latter of which was more amusing then anything. In fact its been a long time since I laughed so hard, my stomach actually hurt the next day.

Many others...

Horror movies that scare me:

Dark Water

This is not about the horror movies that scare you, just the ones you
like. I'm always on the look out for obscure films or ones I have forgot
about, so please keep listing the ones you have seen and enjoyed.
But if they scare you thats cool too.

Well, i think that only one or two movies are considered scary and they are the ones that "hit close to home" and have some form of relativity in your everyday life. My top 5 scary/horror movies are:

1: The Blair Witch Project
2: Saw - The collection
3: Dawn of the Dead + Land of the Dead
4: Texas Chainsaw Massacre
5: The Amityville Horror (New Version)

I don't necessarily go in that order but you could also add a few others in there like The Descent, The Grudge, The Ring collection, Devils Rejects, A Nightmare on Elm Street collection, The Exorcist and even to a lesser extent "From Dusk till Dawn" as a comedy horror movie that is funny aswell as a bloodfest.

  :stoned:

I cant believe no one said Friday the 13th!. I love Jason Voorhees. The first 5 Friday the 13th Movies are my favorite if I have to pick 5, but really I love all of them and own all of them on DVD and VHS (no really) lol. I think I really like him because his weapon of choice is a machette, the hockey mask idea is just genious and the fact that he's undead :D.

I'm not really into horror movies, but I thought Saw 1 was really good. Though I saw it more as a suspense/mystery.
Saw 2 had a pretty good premise, and the basic structure of the whole plan was well done, but I felt the parts with the actual victims/participants involved was just a snuff film with a lot of puzzles.

I wore the "Jason Mask" on stage when i was performing with my band. We were mental... and it really added to the atmosphere. Shitty pic, but i dont care rofl.

Pretty much nothing can actualy scare me short of hanging from a cliff by my fingertips or a near miss on my bike at 70+ MPH

However I love horror movies and have seen every top movie out there.

I like in no particular order

Bad Taste (Just because it is in extremely bad taste)
Return of the Living Dead (Very smart very fast zombies and one of the funniest lines ever spoken in a horror movie)
Braindead (Novel use of a rotary mower)
Evil Dead I II and III Army of Darkness (I love Ash the reluctant hero )
From Dusk Till Dawn (Not technicaly a horror movie but what else are vampires)

I choose these because they are each unique and in thier own way they brought something new to the genre
