Males and Females

Hey I was told by a friend of mine that all plants from a seed are female , unless you fuck them up like with lights, water etc, then they will then actually TURN male... I always thought that they were both, like 50/50, but he proved me wrong last year when he planted 48 seeds and everyone one of them was female. Is he right, or just got damn good odds with that crop?? What do you guys think?

Your friend is wrong. If every one of his seeds were female, I think he was either lucky, or the seeds were feminized

Anybody can they tell me what "feminised seeds" are compared to normal seeds??

feminised seeds are seeds that should be female given the right conditions, oh and by the way, your friend is a fool, hes speakin bullshit, yes you can force a plant to be male, but that doesnt mean they are all started off as females, what he means by screwing up with lights and that, is called stressing the plant, and can often turn it male, if you do it too much

if all seeds are meant to be female, then how does the species survive in nature? You need boys ya know.. :)

your friend probably bought feminized seeds which are developed in a special way so that they all produce female or (occasionally)hermaphrodite plants. Feminized seeds do not exist in nature, and are a result of mans intervention, and are not the same as normal seeds you buy from most banks, they are a very specific product.

and are usually very expensive, but for those that consider money to not be an issue then feminised seeds are a good choice if you don't have time to screw around with males and sexing and what not.
