My housemates and I are building a bar and grow box. the space is 34 inches high and divided into two 3ft x 1 1/2 foot boxes. We have a 600 watt hps, 4" inline exhaust fan, a six inch personal fan, and a 4 foot shop light with two grow bulbs and a one foot florecent. With this equipment we want to create a veg and a flower area for a continual harvest, maybe fit 6 or so plants on a side for a SoG grow. Do you think this setup will function, is it too much heat for a small space?

Hi cg. Im not sure how much your HPS will heat up that area, Ive never really had to fit one into a 3ft space. The shoplights shouldnt be a problem, you're talking about the 4foot fluorecent ballasts right? They usually dont produce as much heat as CFLs do. You might consider replacing your fluorecents with some CFLs for your veg chamber as CFLs will do your plants better then your current Fluorecents. There are fluorecent lights that will outdo the CFLs , but stick to 2-3 40-50w CFLs and your veg should look nice and green providing you know what your doing.:rasta:

Depending on how big the 600 watter is, it could create a problem taking of alot of space and leaving you with little to grow. I'v never used one but I beleive they have to be kept a good foot or more away from the plants leaving you with very little space to do the rest.
