Man, that game 7 was incredibly good! That spectacular catch by Chavez, I thought that might just kill the Cardinals; that catch was simply one for the ages. They'll replay that one in postseason highlight reels forever.
And tied going into the 9th inning! I was so tense watching the game (I'm a Cards fan), that I couldn't sit down, just walked around pacing. And then the unlikeliest of heroes (Mendoza-line-hitting Molina) coming through with that two run shot in the top of the 9th. And then in the bottom of the 9th, Wainright giving up two leadoff hits, ugh, I was terrified he was gonna blow it, with the whole shebang on the line.
It could so easily have gone the other way, and the Mets win. SO easily. Both teams showed heart and spirit all through this NLCS. In my book, both teams are winners, even though only the Cards advance to the World Series. My heart was breaking listening to the Mets manager; you could see tears in his eyes. Both teams wanted to win SO BADLY, and both fought SO HARD, that whoever lost was bound to be emotionally crushed. Even though I'm glad the Cards won, I have enough empathy that Willie Randolph's despair after the loss brought a tear to MY eye.
What a game! What a series!
Wow.

yeh mets were making it hard for me to call my father up to bust his balls (he's major cards fan) lol.. cought the game at the bar, lucky me! I live by nyc in jersey so were alot of mets fans at the bar they were going nutz
ps. that catch was really cool
i actually watched a good chunk of the game last night. no doubt the play of the game was chavez's HR-steal in the 6th inning, molina's HR in the 9th was a #2 though.

All I can say now is . . . MOLINA!
I nearly lost my voice by the end of the game.
So seriously, all I could get out was Molina!
And wow, just like that, we're back in the Series. Now, lol, let's try to avoid the sweep (success already) and maybe take it to 6-7 games.
But if the Cards' pitching doesn't toss too well, it's lights out. The Mets have a freakin' squad, and simply put, the Cards can't compare when it comes to pitching staffs. Wainright and Reyes are the only pitchers I have confidence in at this point. Shit, Reyes threw a HELL of a game 1.
Hopefully the redbirds come out on top! ~

Weaver has pitched fine the last month, Carpenter less so, and Suppan's been just superb. Reyes is actually the Cardinals pitcher I have the LEAST confidence in, although that last performance was great. I think the Cards' pitching staff is pretty under-rated, especially after the last month. I think this will go 7 games, although if Suppan and Carpenter are good in the next couple of days, who knows, the Series may not even make it back to Detroit. It's best 3 of 5 now, and 3 of those games are in St. Louis, where the Cards play much better than they do on the road. The Cards have home field advantage now, and their two best pitchers coming up.

Oh I know the Cards PS is underrated, but they're still underacheivers who are far too inconsistant. That's why you never know who's going to throw well on any day, even Carpenter, who wasn't too impressive his last outing. Same with Weaver, who looked god-awful.
Maybe we should use some pine tar like that withering, cheating snake Rogers? ~
weaver didnt look god awful are you kidding me this whole postseason has probably been the best stretch of his entire career he held a good lineup to three runs in five innings. that is god awful???
carpenter isnt inconsistent he has had a few bad games. suppan is the most inconsistent man on their entire staff and everyone other than carpenter has been good throughout the playoffs. two bad games after two great years isnt being in consistent it is a blip on the radar is all. you have confidence in reyes?? interesting that you would have the most confidence on a guy who had one good game, probably the only game you watched all year. he is easily the worst pitcher in that rotation if you watched any regular season games you would realize reyes is far more inconsistent(though he does lose fairly consistently) than anyone on that staff. wainwright?! you hav got to be kidding me clearly you havent seen many games this year.
kenny rogers is a filthy cheater who should be banned from baseball:thumbsup:

Weaver has had one of his best seasons, but still, I remember his days as a Yankee where he was either on fire or ice cold. He's still too inconsistent for my liking.
Haha, and yes, Suppan ceases to amaze me. He's pitched well a few more times than I've expected. And that "blip" on the radar will certainly be more than that if Carpenter blows a game in the World Series. The entire world is watching.
this is actually one of his worst seasons if not his absolute worst, these postseason games have been some of the oenly good games hes had all year.
i am not calling weaver consistent, i am saying he did fine yesterday. carpenter is not inconsistent.
