Bartending is a shitty job, terrible pay, horrble hours, although for some people its the perfect job because they enjoy talking to drunk people, although those people are few and far between.

buddy, right now Canada is the last fucking place you would want to move. Cassopia is right I think. You have to be a certain type of person to work at a bar and you usually have to attend bartending school and get trained. Good luck in Canada.

Hey, what's wrong with Canada?! It's not that bad, unless you're the stereotypical American who hates us fellow Canadian. ;)

Bartending is shitty work man. You get paid maybe $10/hr, and no, you don't always have to go to bartending school to become one. You work in a fancy bar, maybe, but man, there are normla bars that are just the typical, ceasar, scotch on the rocks, rye and gingers, crown and cokes, shit like that. There are tons of young people who work the bars here and on a Friday or Sat. night, they can easily bring in a $100 in cash in tips alone at a busy club/bar. When people drink, they get generous, and some will tip $5 a time for each drink.

How about the oilfield, if that's your thing? If so, move to Alberta. It is one of the inexpensive places to live, and the oilfield is booming right now. You need some simple tickets though of course but they offer classes that are only 7days long for a cheap price. If you have an H2S ticket though, that is the main ticket they want, then you can easily get a job. Starting pay on oilfieild work is no less that $23/hr, and if you find a better company, you can make $30/hr.

Fishing? Move to Newfoundland and the Easy coast.

Logging? Come here to BC.

Music business, check out Toronto in Ontario or Vancouver in BC.

The same jobs are here that are there pretty much. The fast food is here, custodial work, labour work, driving jobs, tons and tons of driving jobs, and very very few companies around Canada drug test. I see the US is loaded with piss testing, even when applying for a stocking postion! That's crazy man.

If you want to work on a ski hill or snowbaording or whatever, hit up Whistler, Sunshine, all over the place in BC.

There is plenty of opportunity here. If a weak military doesn't bother you, as it reflects on most people as all of Canada being weak, then come on over. We are a friendly bunch.

Oh yeah, and weed isn't legal here either, it's just cheaper, more available, laws are lighter and it is more tolerable here.

orangeman's got it. In alaska you can make some damn good money working on a crab fishing rig or whatever... that show on discovery channel called the worlds most dangerous job or whatever. My friends dad worked there for 3 months to save up money for college and pulled in about thirty grand in his short time there, lived off delicious fish and crab and lived in a tent. He's also an everyday smoker so if you're into that sort of thing it'd be one hell of a ride.

if you don't like where you live, then go live somewhere else ... then, if you find the 'perfect place', DON'T tell anyone where it is, or we'll all move there, and fuck it up for you ... :D

hey blake.... just wanted to say

and plz dont take offence..

but if you have never lived by yourself, id try moving out nearby mom and pops house before going out of country

i moved out when i was 16.... god damn was life a whole different picture... i learned a shitload in just a couple of months, then moved back in.. years later i took my aquired knowledge and moved out again, this time it was better because i knew what to expect.......

kinda like a acid trip (if you can relate)
at first you dont know what to expect and it blows your mind..... then the next time you do it, you know whats about to happen... kind of like that in a way (at least for me anyways)

and NOCHOWDER why do you say all americans hate canadians....?

ive never heard about americans hating you guys, and if so... i dont hate canadains, maybe i was locked away in a room and nobody told me that we were supposed to hate anybody.....

DAMN... i guess i missed out =)

No weed's not "legal" in canada, but the penalties are certainly less. Here in USA, least in my state...

Cultivation, delivery or sale of 1,000 pounds or less is punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $15,000.

This could be 1 plant, or 1000. And those fines actually can go way over 25k.

I'm probably going to move to a MMJ state in 2-3 years. With my condition it would be simple to get a card.

Guys, things in America are no doubt FAR from perfect, but as a world traveller, I can tell you that it is the absolute height of ignorance to call this country a "shithole". Without question, we are the freest, most prosperous, and most comfortable nation on earth. Do we have a ton of problems? Yes. Do we have a long way to go? Yes, of course. But let me tell you, if you think life is hard and sucks in America, you won't last a month just about anywhere else on this planet.

This isn't to say the rest of the world is some nasty place. That's also far from the truth. There are many beautiful nations with beautiful cultures that also have a high standard of living. But nothing compares to the USA, and that's a fact - however hard it might be for you to swallow.

Furthermore, I find it disturbing that many of the people who talk this way aren't even on their own yet and are in many ways still dependent on their parents. Sorry, but until you've at least given living here on your own a chance, there's no reason to assume it will be better anywhere else.

This doesn't apply to everyone. No doubt, some people do belong elsewhere and are happier when they find it. I hope with all my heart these people find what they're looking for.

Instead of whining and giving up on America - I suggest you read the constitution. Read the Decleration of Independence. Read the Federalist Papers. Find out what this country is really all about - freedom. Fight and make an effort to take America back from big government and fight for the freedom that every human being deserves. The values America stands for are without question the greatest achievment of mankind - and people have never been as free to do as they want in the history of the world than they are right now in America. Nor have we ever been afforded so much comfort in our day to day lives.

There's a lot of fucking problems, I know it. It can get disparaging sometimes, but the people can make a difference.

Word man. Call this country free? Man, if I want to do 70mph through a school zone while shooting heroin straight into my vein I should be able too, or else my freedom means nothing.

Yeah. Look, we all agree the prohibition on mj sucks. We'll see change eventually. Just stand with the rest of us, try not to talk too much and vote when you can.
