I was just reading the thread about beer pong/drinking games, and it got me wondering what is your favorite beer? Any good regional beers where you are?

Being from Boston, Sam Adams has always been my beer of choice. Wachusett, Harpoon, Sea Dog, Magic Hat are also some fine New England beers. The liquor store by my house recently started stocking Flying Dog from Colorado which has fast become one of my favorite beers.

So how about it? Any beer coinessuers out there? Whats good where you live?

I was always a Bud Heavy/Light guy through high school. I've been onto Miller Light for the majority of this year, and realized it has a better taste than the Buds. I'll still take a Bud Heavy any day though, and I love the new 'aluminum bottles'. I really do love Heineken though too.

Where I live now there are tons of mini brewers around Granville Island in Vancouver. I quit drinking some time ago, but I like an occasional brew with my supper.

Kokanee is a big brewer here right in BC.

I can't remeber any of the names of the local brewers as it's been so long, but this company used to make their own beer right in this little shop on Granville Island in this small ass shopping district. I went in there when I was 17 with my bro and my dad, and for $10 we got to sample a pint each of 6 different beers. The one I remeber is a Honey Lagar. Very light in color, a honey color actually, and tasted sweet. It was more of a dessert beer as drink a whole 6 or 12 pack of it. It had a fruity taste to it.

But yeah, I remeber that, but I usually I drank common beers. Molson, Budweiser, Heneiken, Brewhouse (Alberta brewer), Labatt, Rickards Red, Miller. Miller was one of my favs. It had little taste and was smooth. Rickards Red for example is a dark beer, and has a strong taste to it. I found I couldn't pound back a ton of those, but the lighter beers like Henieken and Miller I could pound back.

And I never drank light beer, like Coors. Come on, that's a chick beer. ;)

Ya, so I'm like the only one so far who drinks normal beer. I wouldn't mind trying any of that other stuff, but you won't catch me at a party with it.

Chowder, my uncle loves that Labatts Blue stuff. A few years ago, we went to Nova Scotia to visit family friends, and everyone was drinking that. I was too young at the time, so none for me!

My fave beer, Carlsberg Elephant, 7.2 % 275ml bottle. Its fantastic lager, slides down the neck like Carlsberg Export with a kick like special brew but without the special brew aftertaste, u can buy it from Sainsburys, a pack of 4 costs £5.25. Please try this lager people u won`t be dissapointed.

yo dude, i mentioned that with my first post
can you believe that on the black label 40's they dont have the red 211 symbol on the back of the label anymore so you cant watch it appear as you drink it? that surprised the hell out of me, they still got it on the silver label tho, and still only 1.75 + tax a 40

High gravity beer, Steel reserve

AKA Malt Liquor. I was introduced to this 'phenomenon' during my first year of college. Hey, you can't beat 2 bucks for a 40oz. of 9% alcohol. I got my friend hooked on them, and he started like bringing 40's to parties, and play beer pong (beirut) with them, which I though was kinda funny. Personally, if I ever drink Malt again, I like Olde E over anything...I think it tastes the closest to beer. But, I've had some not so good experiences with Malt, such as playing beirut and finishing like 3...the hangover was death!

I used to drink Malt Liqour when I was like 15 and 16, but my tastes quickly changed to something better. :)

I used to drink Big Bear, Old English, Bullseye, all 8% alcohol content for about $3.50 a 40. It was cheap back then, but now I think I would barf my ass off if I tasted it. :p

ugh, i remember the first time i tried 211, i had 30 bucks and i was over at my friends house i gave it to his mom and asked her to buy as many 40s as she could, she came back with like 12-13 of them and we invited 3 other people to come over, we had 12-13 40s and a gallon of caribou lou that had been fermenting in his fridge for last week(151+malibu+pineapple juice) i downed half the CL and 4 40's and we were all fucked up, started fighting. i slammed one of my homies faces into the exposed wooden arm of this couch and his face looked like a damn cartoon it was all swollen up, i went ninja and started jumpin off shit onto other people while they were fighting and started doin spin kicks throwin lightning quick punches and then they all ganged up on me and took me down rofl. then one of my homies started puking so i was like "oh shit! jhes the only one puking, i gotta go in and start puking so hes not the only one! drunk mofo to the rescue!" eventually everyone calmed down and we started taking bong rips, it was a fun night

My wife is kind enough to buy my beer for me it is always imported, and most of the time it is on sale, which sometimes means its close to being out of date but i have taught her to check the born on dates which sometimes is in code on imported beers, so you might have to call them to get the scoop on there lot numbers..born on date etc

If I could only tell you how many 12 packs of Steel Reserve me and my buddies went through last year... Lol. Good ole steel brings back many a memories, but I can't drink it anymore. I've never tasted gasoline, but if I could guess i'm sure it'd taste somewhat similar to steel reserve. As for my favorite beer, I don't think i could choose one. I love Shiner Bock (i'm from texas, and even if i wasn't its still delicious. I also love pretty much any Sam Adams. I like the occasional Guinness Draft. Also, Dos Equis Amber ale is pretty damn good. I pretty much love beer period. Also i've seen a lot of people mentioning 40's, and it made me wonder... Anyone else in here like to play Edward Forty hands?? That game is sure to get one pretty jacked.

Edward forty hands is when you and some buddies have a forty duct taped to both hands and nobody will cut them off until you finish drinking both of them. If you ever play it, make sure and piss before you have them taped on, it can get ugly if you don't.

And most of the time when i'm playing 40 hands i have my girlfriend or a close female friend there to assist me in urination. When i don't it gets to be quite the scene.

Oh man, Blue moon i forgot about that one. My good friend brought me a twelve pack of that on my birthday, and it was definitely one of the finest beers i've ever tasted in my life. It's not just one of my favorite beers, it's one of my favorite things to drink period. So smooth.

It's hard to beat a fresh beer that you get right at a microbrewery. There's a shitload of them around here and it's tough to pick one that's the best.

As far as anything bottled, my favs are:
North Coast Brewery- Red Seal Ale
Anderson Valley Brewing Company-Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout
Sierra Nevada-Bigfoot Barleywine (it's like 12% alcohol so they technically can't cal it "beer")

If you can buy it in a can it ain't worth drinkin. Guiness being the exception.

Anyone here brew their own beer? Nothing like drinking something you brewed yourself.

Me and a good friend have brewed our own beer twice... the first one was the worst thing i've ever tasted but it was the recipe with the highest alcohol content... like 10-11%.. the second one we chose some kind of ale with about 6% alcohol by volume and it was pretty damn good. Now if I ever get the chance to grow my own green, i'm sure smoking your own homegrown is even more satisfactory.
