ya so basically homework is ruining my life this year (junior year high school) with tons of outlining, essays, and all kinds of fuckin tests to study for.

i'm currently just finishing a 2,500-word minimum english essay w/ tomorrow being our last day before grades are final, and i still have to outline like 40 pages of useless info from the lovely all-text history textbook. After that I have to write up an type a formal chemistry lab, and if I'm lucky I might be able to get away with1 hour of sleep :glugglug:. because I knew i had so much damn work i realized i wasn't even be able to toke up today. Don't get me wrong I am not at all an overacheiver, i mean, all this shit i'm doing now is just so i can pass...

so how the hell do some of you guys manage the schoolwork and toking up???:what:

I graduated from college with honors. The trick is to know your strengths and weaknesses. I'm good at getting ideas when I'm stoned and I wrote most of my papers blazed. I would then correct the errors while straight. However, for math(weak area for me), I would wait and "reward" myself with a joint after the assignment was done. Start on assignments the day they are given. The kids in class thought I was kind of crazy when I started my term papers a couple of weeks into class. But when finals and term papers finally came around, they were going crazy, while I had my paper done and could concentrate on the finals. NEVER put off an assignment because you have X weeks to finish it! Get them done early! Then you have the luxury of putting the report down for a week and looking at it with fresh eyes (you catch a lot of mistakes that way). Hang in there, you can make it through this!

its nice to know that we've got a responsible person like you around man that can actually set aside smoking and focus on school. You are a good example of what a responsible smoker is. I respect that

Hey man....this is how it works tho....get the work done (no matter how long it takes) then reward urself with some smoke. In the end it will work out awesome. good luck though man, ur gonna make it. I know ur a good student.

Just don't leave thing until that last minute. When you get an assignment, start on it, or do it that very day.

I can say I didn't do well in High School alone and never graduated, but a few years ago I went back to college to get my HS equiv. diploma, and I passed with flying colors.

The last math class I took was a full semester of algebra alone. I toked everyday, a few times before class, but I found I couldn't remeber clearly of that days lesson. After classes and on my free time, I did my school work, and by 6pm, I had the entire night free. I passed with a 78% average.

You just have to have your priorities straight. School should come first before anything. Do your work, then play, and don't leave things until the last minute, or homework builds up leaving you shocked from amount of work that needs to be done. Do a little everyday and lighten the load.

A 2500 workd essay is not that bad either. That's only about 3 or 4 pages of info., that's not much if you do half a page a day. ;)

School, then play (ganja)

Storm Crow's got the right idea  I also graduated with honors, pretty much following the same process. You just got to find what works for you (and more importantly-what doesn't work) and stick with it.You'll get through it. Seeing as how you put off toking for the day, because you knew you had so much to do, it looks like your'e on the right track.

Now for the depressing thought of the day: It never gets easier. It may change, but 10-15 years from now your going to look back and realize just how easy high school was. If you plan on going to college you'll see those 2500 word essays become 50-100 page papers. You'll also have to read a several hundred pages a night. What's worse, in many classes the entire grade will be based on one paper and one test, so you absolutely can't fuck it up.

After college comes a career, maybe a wife and kids, bills, taxes, etc. Then you'll look back and see how easy college was. You see, the circumstances and specific tasks may change but (unless you win the lottery) you never get that gold pot at the end of the rainbow. They key is to simply remember that it's all part of life. It is inevitable and everyone goes through it. Don't focus on the bad things or you'll go crazy. Instead, always focus on what's good. There's a lot of good out there if you just look.

tell your teacher your not doing it, school work is for school, home is not for school work. its like trying to mix church and state, they cant, they try to, but they cant. tell your teacher to go suck a fat nut cause your not doing schoolwork at home.

Ive been having trouble getting my homework done lately. Ive been depressed quite a bit, and I have ADHD which doesn't help with school. My doctor won't prescribe me with medication for it like adderall or ritilin, even though Ive tried both from a couple friends and they worked great. Instead I have to go to these stupid kind of therapy classes (NOT WORKING!!!!!!!!) and because of this I have poor grades. I just cant remember what homework I have to do, and I get angry and do rash things easily. I'm actually pretty bright though, before I was given a lot of homework in school (3-6 grades) I got all A's and im currently in all of the AP classes. My grades have nothing to do with my intelligence

Some people need to understand that once you get out of Junior High, that High School is going to be twice as hard. More work, more time to put in, and if you're not going to take the time to learn and do homework, then why stay in school? If you think junior year of high school is tough, just wait until grade 12.

Take some suggestions here and take it from me, DO NOT quit high school. You'll end up working bullshit jobs that will either lead you to insanity, going postal, or ending your life off. You have 20-40 years of workforce ahead of you, you really want to spend that time going from job to job, or stuck in the same job making bullshit money.

I had to spend $300 a course in college to get my HS equiv., as I was too old to go to a reg. high school, so stay in school and stick with it. Do your homework daily and don't let things build up.

Good luck.

I generally do my homework the class before. Sometimes I just get lazy and just don't do it.

Mind you, I've smoked maybe 10 times in the last 5 months. So I can't even "reward myself" with anything. :(

Maintaining a 3.4 :) May go down because of Spanish, though. I grasp the concept, but I forget accents here and there, and that's the entire question wrong. Stupid fucking teacher, I'm not in the highest spanish class, it's only 3rd year. (and the first two years i learned nothing, because of the teacher, so it's all new to me)

OR fight the power! school was not made to educate, it was is designed to brainwash kids into being souldead robotic conformists. all the education that any person needs could be taught within a hundred days, why then, are you in there for 12+kindergaten years? because it takes that long to brainwash you starting with kindergarten. lets look at the meaning of kindergarten, kinder-children, garten-garden its of german origin meaning childrens garden, why is it called childrens garden? not because the kids are at play, but because at this stage they are basically vegetables. schools have so many meaningless rules (no gang clothing, no revealing clothing, no running in the halls, etc) why? because if you were to wear gang clothes that would signify you as part of a group that is not part of the school, making you a non conformist. "why would schools want to brainwash us?" why? because school is just the beginning, it is designed to turn you into soldiers, unthinking blindly following soldiers. look at eric and dylan, that is the final, ideal product that schools want-perfect soldiers. the only reason the government considers it a tragedy is because they killed themselves after they were done. teachers, principals, councilors, school therapists, the entire faculty doesnt even realize what theyre doing, they just do it on the premise of "educating the youth" but a person can learn more in a week of reading the right books than in a whole semester at school. only the highest level of authority knows whats really going on. take a stand, dont do your homework, dont your work, get kicked out of class, get your GED and get out of the system! viva la resistance!

Okay then, we're all brainwashed I guess for learning.

If it wasn't for education, you wouldn't be reading these words or typing them. You wouldn't know how to spell, how to write a sentence, use a period.

I agree though, some of the things they teach in school seem useless, but they are preparing you for what's coming. You're young MastaChronic, you have no clue about life. All you know is that mom and dad feed you and put a roof over your head.

You can hate school all you want and live that way, so be it, but don't be bitching and moaning when you're working your ass off for 8hrs a day, 5 days a week, for $9/hr, because without that piece of paper, there is a good chance that's where you'll end up.

If you don't like how thing are run, go find a mountain and live your life by really living. Building your own shelter, getting your own food, clothing, heating all that stuff because with that attitude, you will not make it in the real world.

actually, i have thought about living off the land like you desrcibed nochowder, btw, my dads dead. i see what your sayin man, but thats where a lot of people WITH that piece of paper end up anyways. building my own house up in the mountains, hunting my own meat, growing my own fuits and vegetables, going into town to sell animal furs for money, making my own clothes, growing my own hemp, chopping my own firewood, it would be a tough life, but people have survived like that for thousands of years, just look at the aborigines, away from technology and still makin it. on top of that i would be away from the nasty smell of technology

I agree with you. I would love to find an open mountain somewhere and really live life and that's how humans should live, by really living. You don't hunt your own food or build your shelter, you freeze or die. Out there you have no choice but to live.

I completly understand how you feel though and the second I find a free mountain, I'll get a hold of you. ;)

You have to think about it though. No friends out there, no computer, TV, radio/CD's, video games, no electricity, so you want the easier way to live life, or do you really want to live life.

Not everyone works a shitty job either. Life is what you make out of it. You choose to do a half asses job in college, that's where you'll end up, with a half assed job and wage. People who really work hard to get to their goal, they are the ones working with technology, doctors, lawyers, etc...

i always wait till the last minute to do my stuff. it makes for several very stressful days but i always end up getting it done.

if i had to outline forty pages though id probably start early thought that is going to be hours and hours and hours of work

When I was a hippie stoner sophmore year I told my college counciler something like that. He laughed so hard he cried, now in senior year I think very differently. You learn much more than you can currently appreciate in school, when youre older I think youll see how important it was.

Imagine your reunion when all your friends have meaningful jobs and influential positions while youve gone crazy from loneliness as a hermit. Theres more things to do in life than just live.
