Hi yall,

Here are a few pictures of a garden I had the pleasure of filming this past weekend.

CLONE KING
You can see the cloning table has 400 rooted clones -- with a 1000 watt MH on a light mover. The light is about 6-10 inches from the clones.
He can keep the light this close because of the light mover..

Below the table are 8 - 4foot fluorescent tubes lighting 4 mothers.... It was actually these four mothers, plus 1 that made all of these clones. (one mother not shown in picture). The mothers were 3 feet tall when he started cloning them. When he was done cloning, they were only 1 foot tall.

FLOWERING ROOM
The flowering area is 16 feets by 8 feet.. with a light mover carrying 2 - 1000 watt HPS bulbs. This is a nice set up. This grower could double his yield if he had 2 more bulbs, but he is doing the best he can with what he has. Notice the cool tubes and how close they are to the plants. Less than 4 inches at in some places.

I envy you. How are you going to change things around once those clones reach maturity?

Garden Knowm

The clones are actually ready to be flowered (although a couple more days would be ok). The gardener just does not have room to move the clones into his flowering room.

400 ROOTED clones is a SHIT load of clones.. If they get 3 or 4 more inches taller before he flowers it will be an unruly mess.. LOL

His cycles are all out of whack... his flowering room stil has 2-4 weeks before the crew reaches maturity (harvest time).

Of course he could always start another ROOM.. : )

one more minor detail..
The clones are in clear beer cups and will need to be transplanted into larger containers...

Nice grow operation...with a continuos cycle of plants. What caused
his cloning to growth cycle to get messed up? That can't be the
first grow in that set up, is it?

LOL...

hello mr. eagle eye :D

the light mount was a bit un balanced.. so the grower put the AXE and Crowbar on the mount to balance it out.

He just cloned his mothers to early..

you know how stoners operate...

1. get an idea
2. act upon your idea
3. re-consider what you already did
4. go eat something
5. wish you weren't so stoned so you could talk to the girl behind the counter at starbucks
6. smoke more weed
7. start at #1 again

The stoner life cycle, LOL. That is going to be a pain trying to do all of that transplanting, making room and so on. Why not put a 400w on the light mover over the clones to slow down the growth for a while and maybe use something like bush master after they get to the flower room? May work, just throwing some of my stoner logic out there, did I just say something, where is my lighter? LOL

What caused his cloning to growth cycle to get messed up? T?

Another good way to mess up your perpetual cycle is to introduce a strain with a really different flower time...

I'm about to wreak some havoc on my buddy's garden:

He's got chocolate chunk (9 weeks) in his garden right now. Nice, strong, smooth, but IMO rather boring flavor, and not commercial-level yield (his goal).

I'm giving him smashberry clones (45 days, lol!) better yield and flavor... but mostly just to fuck with him! :D

Gnowm, your friend's garden is enviable!!! And your summary of the stoner thought process made me laugh...

Well, HELLO, GK.

What a pleasure to have been able to shoot that, huh? Tell your friend that we all like it. Hope he gets his transplanting situation sorted out. That's a lotta work.

Very nice.

Damn, phytokind, good eye! Lol. I just had horrible images run through my head when I went back to look at the axe & crowbar. LOL. Phew, glad I was wrong. :D:D

400 clones, omg! Does he have enough room and lights to grow that many? SOG? Can't imagine any other way with just the two big lights. Lol, go back and get more pics when those are flowering -- we all love fields-of-buds shots! ;)

I just noticed he is using corrugated black flexible drain pipe for his
containers that is a real money saving idea. Are they fixed to the
table with drain holes under them or sitting on top of a screen?

And I find myself going thru those steps you described every day LOL.

I don't recommend 1 gallon containers or these corrugated drain pipes (which are 1 gallon) unless ONE is going to flower CLONES at a very very early stage... like 1-4 days after roots appear..

I do believe these containers are just to small... Maybe if there was a larger perlite to soil ratio...

I feel like the plants are a tad bit stunted.. and of course they are lacking proper light..

Hey GK, you said something about a friend with a 3K set up pulling 6LB's off of 12 plants I believe. You said that he veges for six weeks wit lots of training, what kind of training, topping, LSTing, pruning or what. Is he using a hydro set up, light movers, c02? I am looking for new ideas for my new room. I have 3 1K's but was going to leav one in my duel C22, but I would like to be as productive as I can. I am not really trying to do a SOG because of plant numbers and I want to dile in these strains a little more first.
So, any suggestions?

i forget that too... LOL

I will shoot him an e-mail tomorrow and ask him aout the pictures..

The pictures are worth a thousand words..

Ok nice setup. Just a few words of critisicm about the efficiency of your grow OP. You have cool tubes right there, which also have reflectors to reflect light back down. This isn't particularily effective as light setups go, your losing a substantial amount of light having it go through glass. Light (most) all bulbs, only half the bulb sees the plants canopy, so I can see your logic in reflecting the top of the bulb back down. In a senario like this, light is passing through the glass at the top but its being reflected back down, back through the glass, so your effectively heating your bulb up, which is definatelly not a good idea. Expectedly, you have increased the lumens hitting the plants somewhat. But I'm suprised you don't have serious hot spots, even with the closed vent ventilation. If you are so adament on using cool tubes, at least get one's with the reflector inside the tube, you wouldn't have to scrape what you have, just coat the top half of the tube, on the inside, with reflective material. And scrap the reflectors altogether.

HI MEGA..

VERY GOOD EYE.. : )
The effciency of the cool tubes mixed with the light mover is truly amazing.. These 1000 watt bulbs are are usually 4 inches from the foliage..

If this grower had just 2 more 1000s, this garden would be producingno less than 8lbs.. pretty darn good for a simple ghetto grow..

What I would like to hear you explain a bit further is your idea about HOT SPOTS.. because there were 2 very very minor.. (actually not even worthy mentioning) burns that I noticed ... I could not figure out how just 2 leaves in the entire garden of 150 plants ... were burned.... I appreciate your insite..

I'm curious about that too. I will look through my pics to see if I can find the ones I have with some leaves with some really weird things that look like they might be "hotspot" burns. But those are under CFLs! But they happened when we switched from 23w CFLs to 42w CFLs and only on a couple leaves. Curious.

What I meant to say was thoretically, the bulb is being cooked, not necessarily the plants. Any leaf burn due to heat with a setup like this would be purely coincidental. So, apologies about that misunderstanding GK.
