ok me and some guys an gals were talkin bout this in the chatroom...

How bout we arrange a get-together in Amsterdam, for sometime in summer 2008!

i know its a long ways off but it would give people a chance to save up as we would all have to make our own way there and such.

Just an idea, some feedback would be cool :)

If I can manage to save up by than I will be there. I plan on taking a trip there as soon as posible anyway. Just not sure how long it will take me to save up the money. It's a long trip from southern U.S.

I'd say coming from the U.S. you should save at least 2,000. I havn't checked prices in a while, but plane, hotel, plus weed and food, could ad up quickly.

Made me die a little bit inside. This is when I checked last though, for the current year's prices. I think it was back in April, so they shouldn't have changed much, other than raising...

I'll just hazard a guess, Sabron, and maybe for you, too, MastaC, but all the probation officers I know are real funny funny about probationers leaving the state, much less the country--particularly for Amsterdam--when folks are still waiting for their terms to end.

yeah i can see how it would be cool during the Cup, but remember it'll be a lot more hectic then, more peeps, probably harder to find accomodation too, and it'll cost more no doubt.

I'd be down like a clown charlie brown if I could work it out for me.

I'd say def go at the Cup time, this is a good idea for the future, and gives plenty of planning time. I'd be 18 then too, but I'm not sure what my situation will be and if I'll be able to pack up and go, I'm good at saving money though so I'm sure I'd get part down easy, especially if I got a job.

Too far off to say though. Would be cool though, and all that can go definitely should. Hell...it should be an annual thing.

I think that's wise. Plus the hotel and maybe fare prices will be up during and before the Cup. I'd rather go when we're the main crowd, not huge cup-attending throngs. But I don't much care for crowds.

I'll go with whatever's more likely to bring out more people from here, tho.

Thanks, guys. I enjoy the mom part and, for that matter, the science part, too. I'm an emtpy-nest mom here, and so I think I exercise that part of myself here now. My own baby no longer needs me. Well, he does, but he just doesn't get that much face time with me while he's away at school, and I try to let him reach out to me when he does instead of vice versa since he's trying to grow up.

Yeah, I realize the crowds will be bigger and stuff, but for some of us it may be the only time for a good while we'll have the chance to go (most likely me, hehe), and the cup just sounds like a wild experience. Obviously I'm up for whenever, but if we don't go to the cup, why not just go to rotterdam instead? I hear it's a lot better than amsterdam.

Id defianately be up for going. Peeps in the UK that are interesed, EasyJet do returns to Schipol Airport for around Â£60, and another tenner for travel insurance.

I was really considering going to the cup this year but by the time I found out enough about it it was too late from florida it will cost like $3k to go there and back around then not to bad for a really great fucking time.

How long you all planning, a week? Whats accomodations like in Ams? Airfare is easily 1,000 USD right now. I dont know how many americans you'd really get to come over. A typical 2 week vacation, in the states for me costs over 2,000. Realistically one would need to budget $100-150 a day.

Im just saying 2k-4k is alot of money for most peopke, even to save up for the next year. Thats enuff to put new windows throughout my house.

Like i said, the whole point is to get everyone together, not just UK/Europe peeps on one side of the world and USA peeps on the other, that wouldn't be as much fun! :)

But if you think you can't make it, then speak for yourself, not for others, i'm sure theres plenty of people who will actually make the effort to try and make this happen, and hey like someone else already said, if i had the money, i'd pay for your ticket and accomodation myself, but unfortunatly... i'm not that rich, it'll be just as hard for me to save up for it as anyone else (what with me being jobless atm). But i'm atleast willing to try, plus i wanna go other places besides Amsterdam, this get-together isn't the only trip i have in mind so your not the only one with money issues ;)

so what we get cheaper flights from the UK, the accomodation will cost the same as it will for you, and i don't think UK ppl get discount on weed :p

yes 2008, we need to give ppl time to save up enough cash, while it's relatively cheap for UK ppl to go there it's not so cheap for USA/Canada ppl...

we don't all necesarely have to stay at the same place, allthough it would be cool, if we were gonna do that i reckon a camp site or somethin would be better, but just aslong as we all meet up through the day that would be cool, then party into the night :p

well i kinda have to be 18 because i cant leave for amsterdam still living at home. not sure if the rents would allow overseas travel by myself in just 2ish years.

and im pretty sure you have to be 18 to smoke in the coffeshops.

For someone from the US, I'd say plan on at least spending 1000 on this thing. Am I right?from U.S. all included...Pot, airfare, hostel, food, etc...$2500 min per person.

Another note..although the cup is cool...you are talking aobut the most expensive time in the season to go. Don't want to go in winter either, form what I hear.

Is there an upper age limit on this trip? i'll be 41 in 2008 but i'd still love to go and with goin every year since 1990 i know central Amsterdam like the back of my hand(including the red light district lads).There are plenty of campsites outside Dam but then you're talking expensive late night taxi journeys from Dam to the campsite, decent quality budget accommdation can be found right in the middle of the action and with a large group booking you might be able to negotiate a discount with a hotelier,just a thought anyway later

If this get together is only up for the cannabis cup, then I don't think I'll ever get to be attending. It's just way too close to thanksgiving and christmas. If I've gotta pick weed over family, family will win every time.

Howabout trying to shoot for a more local meetup for the US folks around. Hell, I'd be amazed if that even happened. That works, then you can go for the CC.

actually i think most folk (me included) would not like it to be around the time of the cannabis cup, cuz it'll cost more at that time, it'll be more crowded too and harder to find accomodation, besides, this would be a cannabis.com get together, not a cannabis cup get together ;)
