View Full Version : brush your damn teeth.....

i just got back from having surgery to remove all of my bottom teeth, had the tops removed back three years ago...
why you might ask i have no teeth in my mouth, well ever since i was little my grandmother, who raised me, taught me i didn't need to brush my teeth, so of course, i grew up thinking i didn't need to, until it was too late that is...
so no matter how lazy you get, or if you wind up in my situation thinking it wont' hurt anything to not brush [i honestly thought brushing was just for bad breath, and i didn't care about my breath] think again.
keep those teeth healthy and brushed, and if you have problems with your teeth, don't put off the dentist, a fixable tooth can turn into a big problem pretty quickly. so if you know you got a problem, do everything in your power to get it taken care of asap, because trust me you do not want to be in my situation.

If you don't mind sharing, how old are you?

21, i was gonna say that but i forgot lol. 21 years old and can already give my wife 'gummers'.... kinda makes me sad, makes me feel like a freak actually and like i can feel people staring at me and making fun.

do you sport denchers, or a grill perhaps?
MacWQ33
10-17-2006, 08:04 PM
Just wear some denchers? Damn, you're scaring me, I'm gonna go brush right now! I definitely forget sometime or am too busy, but I will make time from now on. I was always under the impression you were older, how long you been married? I'll be 21 next summer, and I def don't want to get married for like 10 years lol, but hey, if 'the one' comes along, then I guess you can't pass it up. If it was recent, congrats.

been married 3 years now, and i've had top dentures for awhile, and i will be getting ones for the bottom, but just for your gums to heal so you can get a proper mold made it takes 3+ months, but since i'm doing this all through the goldcard [pays for medical expenses, it's not insurance or medicaide but ti's similar] i have to get put on a waiting list, so the earliest i'll have a full set of teeth again will be 6 months from now.
btw, i met my wife when i was 14, we got together when i was 15, split up when i was 16, then when i was 18 we got back together and got married, just about a year later we had a baby boy. if you value your lifespan, do not have any kids, because once you do, for some reason years pass by like months and months pass by like days.

at 49 I managed to save a little over half of my teeth, miracle cause I did not start brushing for real till I was 16,,,I was rebellious...
Funny cause my Grandma "rest in peace" was like the brush your teeth Nazi and when I stayed at her house she stood at the bathroom door and watch me brush, while she cursed my Mother in her Ukrainian dialect LOLz,,,I did not know a word she was saying but I knew what she meant...
My childhood was a tough one,but I remember an elementary school nurse saying to me,,, and I quote "You will have no teeth by time you are 18 if you don't start taking care of them"... heh,,,I knew more than her at the time...

I want to get married, and now. I am a FREAK.
That really sucks about your teeth, I am always very scared for my teeth. I got braces when I was 8 years old and wore them for 4 years, that cost my family 5000$! I have had so much money put into my teeth to make them look good that I am a freak when it comes to brushing and flossing. If I don't brush before I go to bed I have nightmares that I lost all my teeth.
I am craazzyy.

That sounds shitty Slippy, and at 21 too, hardcore.
My mom always told me to brush my teeth and I'd never listen. At the start of this year I spent $1100 in a mtter of months just getting my mouth fixed, or teeth would have come out as well. Not only that, I suffered a harsh healing from a shitty extraction of a wisdom tooth. The tooth had grown in fine, but it had rotted away. When he tried pulling it, the tooth literally crumbled like a dry cookie. He had to dig in and pull, and I suffered dry socket on 3 seperate occasions. 3 times is extremely rare as after the 1st time it happens, they stuff your mouth to re-clot is, and there is only a 10% chance it will come loose again. Mine came loose 2 more times after that.
So yes sir, I take care of my mouth now. Brush 3 times a day and use burn-your-fucking-mouth-out Listerine.

Damn that sucks. Theres a kid in my class who has some fucking BLACK teeth and they're like, erroding. errosion...
I always brush my teeth in the mornings, but like at night I never do, I used to but its just so hard for me to get into the habit. I'm not real worried. It seems like I can just start brushing a lot and bring them back to life. lol one time I brushed like 5 times in a row and was like "ma' my teeth whiter?" and she was like "yeah". I've never had a cavity or nothing so I guess I take good enough care of them. If I notice them getting yellow I take action.

every time i see one of my mates i'm reminded to brush my teeth regularly and thoroughly.... he only has 2 of his own natural teeth left, the rest are false, and he's only 28!

i'm not supposed to drink or smoke, first thing i did when i got outta the hospital was light up a cigarette, and as soon as i got home i grabbed me a beer, they gave me vicodin, but damn this stuff hurts so bad the only thing i can do is maintain a nice level of buzz-drunkness to keep the pain to a minimum.....
would you believe if it i told you that just the act of moving my mouth to swallow things whole [vegetables, meats and noodles in soup] is excrutiating pain....
i'm glad it's over too birdgirl, i know it was only on my teeth but the closer it got, the more nervous i got, and when they wheeled me away from my wife and to the operating room, i started to get scared shitless, i almost told them to turn me around because i can't do this, i just kept thinking what if i don't wake up and can't see my snookums no more.... and ever since i woke up i've been 'all over her' hurts like hell to even chickenpeck her, but i can't stop doing it 10 times in 5 minutes....
i wish i had weed, i knew i shoulda saved some, but noooo i didn't i =/

If all my teeth fell out, I'd get some funky self cleaning or non-cleaning ones put in that could chew through steel or something. And no more toothpaste, just stick the teeth in the dishwasher at night and shiny fresh clean teeth in the morning :-)
If I lose my hair, I will be happy that I don't need to go for haircuts anymore or spend money on shampoo. :-)
On the other hand if my hair lasts for my lifetime or till I'm old and wrinkly, then I'll smile at myself in the mirror and thank my granpa's genes.
I guess the point I'm trying to make is "convert" the negative event into a positive opportunity. Easier said than done, and I empathise with your loss, but you gotta try it.
All the best!

lol i've already done that, i'm sad because i don't have my own teeth and dentures are a real pain in the ass, just ask anyone who has them, but i'm happy because they can no longer hurt me, and i don't have to worry anymore about if i'm taking good care of my teeth, not to mention i won't have the sensitivity i had even when my teeth were just short of perfect.

My teeth could have been worse, but they still are terrible because I to hated brushing, and copious amounts of pop didn't help either

i dunno if i have flouride in it, but i never drink it anyways lol... i've always been a coke man, which is probably one of the main causes of what i'm going through, used to go through a 12 pack of coke everyday. also, on the genetics, both my grandma and my mom had their teeth pulled by the time they were 21, and my dad needed them pulled long ago, but he spends all his time and money on crack, i doubt he's ever even seen a dentist.

i just realized i'm screwed... i have no good diet, my genetics are all screwed with cancer, diabetes and everything you can imagine, and my luck, is just pure shit. i don't think i've ever actually gotten 'lucky' in my life, if things have happened it's cuz i made them happen..
well i guess i got lucky finding my wife, i couldn't have made that happen if i tried.....
