I was talking to this girl the other day and she told me her friend swears by his rice bong.
"Rice Bong? " you say?
Apparently its just a regular bong... but, with rice :O :O :O!!!
Has any one heard of this? Apparently its much better than using water. Not to mention, its less painful if you spill your bong.
I cant wait to try this once i get some rice...

Sounds interesting. I'm sure it must be a little harsh.

The rice would do what? Filter the smoke? Cool the smoke?
I don't get it. But, I have heard of that before.

i can see how it would cool the smoke. i might try this next time igot some weed, water can actual do the opposite of what you want it to do, by filtering out some thc, or even make the tar to thc ratio even higher. only reason i still use water is to cool the smoke.
i don't really even use water i just drop ice cubes in and whenever the ice melts then i have water, that's the only way water gets in any of my bongs. too bad dry ice would be harmful on the lungs or i'd use that instead of conventional ice.

well, yes rice would cool the smoke, it is matter and matter absorbs energy, a rice bong might be better for stealth hits instead of the bubbling noise with water. rice bong... well to each his own

uhmmm....if anything it woudl prolly cool it because the compacted rice creates a kind of "labrynth" for the smoke to travel through, which would help extract tars, and woudl make it smoother and cooler smoke. but better than water? i ono ill have to try that when my break is up.

GUYS. Rice CLEANS the smoke. Thats what I heard. It might result in a smoother hit too.

Dry I would assume I wouldn't put cooked rice in my bong its moist and would stick together.

Mix the rice with water in your bong and smoke out of that for a month. Pour the rice and water into a pot and heat. Enjoy.

the rice bong concept works 100% better than water. i went on a boarding school trip to nam like 3 years ago. some dude on his porch in 1 of the towns we visited called me and my friends up to hit his bong. when we hit it and heard no water, we questioned him. he said that instead of agua, he was using dry rice. we were confused at first, but it got us more ripped than we had ever been b4. it was truly an amazing experience. pce:stoned:

I tried the dry rice, I have a 14" bong, and I filled only the bottom bulb of it with the rice..
I got high, but it was def not a smooth hit.
gonna try cooked rice when I get chinese tomorrow

Ha ha! Not cooked rice silly. Good luck trying to get all that stickey rice out of there after.
I have tried the rice bong and I found it no big deal, or not a big noticable difference.
You have to fill the bong with rice until a 1/4 or 1/2inch of the stem tube is covered up, so the smoke goes through the rice. If you just put rice in the bottom of the bong and not cover the stem tube, then that's just rice in a bong and does nothing.
But please, don't put cooked rice in there. You'll go stir crazy trying to get it back out. :p

Okay, so I decided to try putting dry rice in my bong and smoke through it. I filled up the bong with dry rice, nothing fancy, just plain, white rice, and I filled it so about 1/2inch of the stem tube was covered. I smoked and the hits were as smooth as they would be through cool water.
I eat my words. Dry rice in the bong worked for me and now that's where the rice stays...in my bong. :D I say try it for yourself. It may sound silly, but it's better than changing bong water, or spilling it, where it soaks into your carpet and stinks forever. :D

i wouldn't know for 2 reasons, one i never spill my bong, and two i don't have carpet lol.. i have 2 simple rules when anyone smokes with me, one, you puke, you LICK it up, don't smoke more than you can handle just to be cool, two, YOU SPILL IT YOU LICK IT UP, which goes along the same lines, if you're fucked up enough to spill it, you don't need to be hitting it.... in my room there is like only one thing to worry about spilling, and that's my bong, i f you manage to spill it, then you deserve to lick my floor clean. that of course is only if it's your fault entirely, i understand things happen and have chain reactions, but say you go to reach for it, and knock it over, that is YOUR fault and no one else's.... anyone else have similar rules?

put raw rice in with the water. it makes more surface area for the smoke.
and that is fucking brutal to have to lick up bong water...

No, don't put rice in with water as rice expands sitting in water.
No water, just dry rice! :p It works, just try it.
I don't really have any rules when it comes to the bong. No breaking my bong and no wasting the weed really. If they spill, they can clean it up and use stain shit to get the smell out of rug. It never happens though.

at lollapalooza this year i had about 3/4 g of the best shit i have ever smoked (Straight up BC bud, still sealed in medical packaging) and my friend spilled his jager on it... and the funny thing is i still tried to smoke it...

haha well ive actually never spilled bong water....ever....but ive only been smokin bit over a year now(almost year half!).
the rice idea seeems like it WOULD work though, i mean it creates an artifically longer smoke path/labrynth, that would make it deposit its tars on the rice. kinda like a budbomb, but alot better.
i am DEFINATELY trying this soon. as soon as my break is up and i get some ganja.
i dont see how water can put in more tar unless water has tar in it. and since i drink gallons of it a week and bath in it every day i think ill take my chances. i suppose it is possible though if there was a chemical reaction with the smoke and water, but still not sure. i have seen things arguing for both as to the thc thing i have never felt a noticeable difference higher or lower except it is easier to take bigger hits out of water. i should like to try this rice method though.

It doesn't increase the amount of tar, it increases the ration of tar to THC, in other words, the level of THC is decreased. I know THC isn't water soluable but its what happens. THere are studies all over the web about it, I think some one had posted a link to one recently, try the vaporizer threads. Apparently the most efficient/healthiest way to toke, next to a vape, is a joint. I don't see why, maybe the weed filters the tar well at the begining, but then your'e just smoking it all eventually anyways. I think it has something to do with the way they're testing it, I'd like to see the tar/THC of a nearly roached out J.

I'm gonna copy and paste this from another thread. Still my post, just too lazy to write it again.
While I love the work that NORML/MAPS has done in the field of marijuana research (I didn't check the link, but that's pretty much word for word of the report they released), they have left out some clue words that every single scientist should be able to say in their sleep. However, they also do include words and phrases that allude to the test being somewhat less than 100% accurate.
First, you have to consider the condition. They used a very low-grade cannabis, and it is very possible that this could have affected test results.
Second, I don't believe they did take into account the amount of smoke lost through the process of smoking with joints. Whereas a bong has little to no smoke not being taken into the lungs, this isn't true of joints. Ya see my point?
What they didn't tell you they meant was that that test proved true for the conditions they were using. Just because one time something happened a certain way does not make that the rule.
Ya gotta take every report you read, from both sides, with a grain of salt.
I tried it, one BIG ass hit got me stoned, but it wasnt the smoothest i've had.
I think i'll stick with water and ice.

i tried this with some cooked noodles. it definately acheived the same effect. made my bong nasty though... it was only a powerade bottle bong so i didnt care.
i want to get some small glass pebbles and fill a bong with that. that way you would see the smoke traveling through the pebbles and it would get the "labyrinth" effect that was mentioned earlier. maybe a petstore would sell little glass pebbles for fishtanks?

thats a good idea, exept i can see that breaking alot of GonG type bongs(more likely downstems), becuase of the leverage that it puts on the downstem. But on an Oring one it could be ok. I wouldnt do it though, id rather have somethign i know wont break my bong no matter what.
but if someone has one of those tiny 20$ cheap 8" o ring bongs theyd be willing to sacrifice for the purpose of finding out if the glass pebbles are ok, then that would be cool.

i would doubt ever, unlees it gets SOOOO tarry that its sticks together....that woudl be nasty....in which case you should try and ISO all the remaining THC out of the resin.
