I'm just a little pissed off this morning because I feel, I got a wrongful firing.

I just moved to Vancouver and have been working this job at a kitchen just downstairs from my place. I get a call last night at 9pm, I was in the shower, so he left me a message. He said, "uhhh, sorry to do this over the phone, but we had a pregnant girl leave here in June and she now wants her old job back" Now, the job is MY job, MY hours, so she wants MY job back..."we can offer you a nighttime prep. job..." which I don't want because that is a step lower for me, and, it's night time work, whcih sucks ass...."the job pays an hr less in wage, but anyways, come talk to me tomorrow let me know what you think and I'll give you the weeks work that you worked out of the register"

Okay, I got this job after a good week or negotiating. I rejected the work at first because of the low pay and hours, but she phones me up, we worked out hours which were prefect for me. $11/hr, Mon-Fri. no weekends, 9am-3pm, so after weeks of neg. and working there no more than 10 days, I get my job taken away from me because some fat prego. wants her job back. Awww...so sad you fuckin whore. :p

Anyways, I feel I was wrongfully let go of my job. I know they offered me another position, but that just won't work. This is like someone who gives another a gift, then takes it back later on! I'm going down there in a few hours to get my money and I'm going to let them know what a cold slap in the face this was. I'm not going to curse or raise my voice, but I'm going to very blunt with them. Assholes. Now I have no job, and I have to look for another. On top of all this, I turned down an okay job for this one when I first moved here, now, I have NONE.

Employers have an awful lot of power. My woman is a school counselor. She's been working there 35 years, and has tenure. But even so, they can transfer her to another school and stick her in a class full of 5 year olds, and she couldn't say a thing. The one thing they can't do is fire her without cause (but it's awfully easy to trump up charges and she has a dick principal now who is trying to do just that in a thinly-disguised case of reverse discrimination). They can't cut her pay either. The reverse discrimination is a clique of blacks basically conspiring to eliminate all the non-black folks from any positions of authority. That's extremely hard to prove though, and they've left enough token whites (at the bottom of the pay scale of course) to cover themselves. So, my woman said fuck it, she's retiring after this year. It's a brutal urban area anyway, and I fear for her life every day she leaves for work, so I'm glad she's retiring. Less money, but she'll live longer, and with less stress. And hell, she'll make $60k/year doing nothing at all once she retires, for the rest of her life, and she's still rather young to be retired.

Best to find out your employer sucks sooner rather than later, so you can move on before you've put down too many roots.

Anyways, one of the other cooks managed to get the guy on the phone to confirm him giving me my money.

I don't know the entire story as I've been there for such a short time, but all I know is that she left in June because the slut got knocked up. Maybe she miscarried. :D She looked rather surprised at what I was explaining to the cook, as she was right beside us, so I don't she even knows what happened.

This thought did run through my mind, but, they weren't even there, so I couldn't even tell them off, also, nothing was ever in writing, so that will make things hard in a court situation, but it was agreed on by a handshake.

I work hard for almost 2 weeks, she comes back out of the entire city of Vancouver to get her old job back that is now mine, and gets it, so I'M THE ONE GETTING SCREWED, I'M THE ONE WITH NO JOB, AND NO PAYCHEQUE COMING IN. If she wanted work, she should habe gone and found her own instead of taking mine, which now I have no work.

Is that how long you were there? 2 weeks? I'm just wondering if this girl didn't actually quit but took Maternity Leave and planned to go back to her job (your job) as soon as leave was over?

Maybe the boss person played one on you knowing full well she would be back. Jerky bosses do that so they're not left in a lurch.
