I have my plants on 18/6 right now. I was wondering if it would matter if i switched them to 24/0, as i have read that in vegetative growth they do not need darkness
I was thinking of adjusting the time gradually (e.g. 19/5, then 20/4, etc.)
Does anyone know if this would increase my chances of hermies or males?

Last grow I vegged 24/0 and this grow I went with 18/6. If you don't need to have the light on for heat I would just leave them at 18/6.
Why do you want to switch to 24/0?

24/0 makes them grow faster, is the reason I usually use 24/0. That's not just something I read from a book; I did the experiment to be sure, with two exactly identical cabinets. The plants really do grow significantly faster and more vigorously under 24/0 (assuming you can keep the temps under control). You can shave about a week off veg time that way, roughly.
But no, don't change now. Changing the light schedule can cause hermies. If you start 18/6, stay 18/6. If you start 24/0, stay 24/0.
