Alright so last night I had a revelation. I figured out christianity.

It wasn't about punishing the sinners, or stopping them from sinning. That's what hell's for. It was about loving thy neighbor, and not sinning. If they want to be lesbians, let them, their choice to sin. But you must forgive and still love them! If they choose to keep sinning, that's their choice, they will pay for it later, but you must still love and forgive them.

Oh and btw, I'm not a christian, I am speaking from a christian point of view, I don't believe in heaven or hell.

What ya'll think?

Right, I'm sure that that's what it was supposed to have been when Jesus taught it.

But now...it seems to have wavered from that a bit. (No matter that the bible hasn't really changed)

See what happens when you stay up, get stoned and watch The Passion?

Haha, I didn't watch the passion, don't plan on it.

I was just thinking about how much I hate the moral majority and christian right and all that bullshit, and how christians pretend to be so "love everyone" but if you say "oh I'm a satanist" or "they shouldn't but 'In God We Trust' on currency" they flip a shit and cease to love thy neighbor.

If I was Jesus, who was def. a socialist, I would be right pissed that these stupid conservatives are using me the way that they are.

Ah well, that's life I suppose.

Christianity is all about loving one another. Jesus taught this. Christians are the exact opposite. They are pompous and contourt everything Jesus says to fit their needs. Heaven and Hell? Scare tactics to keep people from doing bad. I do not believe in God and am very glad I have chosen this. Once you stop believing in God you wake up. You see things from another, less biased, perception.

I also like how Christians can go on for hours denying other gods but once you say anything about theirs you are wrong and terrible. Also think about your belief in Jesus. Virgin impregnated by a spirit, gives birth to man-god who eventually dies. Comes back to life. And than floats to a sanctuary in the sky.

I hope when you say "your" you mean "their" :P

Yeah, I think that people are taking it way too literally. Most of those people don't actually believe any of that ridiculous shit happened, which makes it easier for them to contort the rest of the story into their utopia.

@Dankman haha I think Scientology tops it by a little bit.

AFAIC, scientology was Hubbard's cruel but hilarious joke. I feel bad for people who actually believe dead alien souls make them feel bad.

But at the same time, if that's what the choose to believe, I have no problem with it.

Im a Christian, and thats pretty much what i believe.

Im not like one of those, "Push the Bible down your throat" people though.
but you know that when someone trys to do that, they are just trying to look out for your best interest in the future, which would be heaven.

Yeah dude, I think it's worse to be some kid saying "I HATE ALL CHRISTIANS! CHRISTIANITY IS DUMB!" than to be one of those christians.

Anything that will make people better to each other is something good. Hell, America was founded by pissed off brits who wanted religious freedom.

I think most of the "bad christianity" is from when people take the bible literally. Yeah, I don't know where I'm going with this. I'm baked :rasta:

Christianity and all religions were created for a certain purpose. I can't say for sure, but I think at the time the higher up people wanted to sort of control their people, make them believe in something, to look forward to something, to live by something, and to put fear into them.

Thats my opinion.

I'm not getting into a debate about christians, I was brought up protestant but I haven't to church in years and don't ever give it much thought. I seriously gotta tell ya though, I had a revelation once, I realized zeppelin were the greatest thing ever. That was kinda dick, anyway I was having sex, like last summer, pretty sure I was high. It was going really well and all and then I felt like I was seeing this bright whiteness and I felt this thing sort of telling me I should wait till marriage to have sex. It was wierd and had no effect on me what so ever. Guess this was barely worth posting, you were all having a serious talk...reefer and Free Bird, God bless

Not to mention the fact that the word "virgin" was actually a mistranslation from the original Hebrew "young girl". Kind of throws a wrench in that whole story, huh?

Anyone who's read the Bible can't possibly say that Christianity is all about loving thy neighbor.

Anybody who's read the bible either has too much time on their hands or lives in a church :P

Actually when I was in middle school, a friend was fucking around in CCD and got sent home. As a result his dad grounded him until he read the entire bible.

I laughed at him for years.

religious systems suck
you should just follo9w some of the doctrines of the religions
many eastern religions were never meant to be religions they were doctrines but then people associated them with gods and rituals
bad idea

I posted this earlier today in the Spirituality section in the thread, "Why God does not exist, in one sentence" (http://boards.cannabis.com/showthread.php?t=86919)

My one sentence answer:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Because God does NOT exist as the personification we give him/her.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Remember, God (or by whatever name you call the force/energy responsible for all of creation) is beyond comprehension by our relatively small and puny intellects. In order to relate to such an incomprehensible/unimaginable energy we create personifications such as God(s), angels, ect. All these concepts, whether you realize it or not, are of one and the same.

By taking the personifications too far and personally we create human fallacies which are incompatible with logic and science.

Take it for what its worth. :twocents:

People are all individuals, saying christians do this and that is the same as saying black people do this or that or that people who smoke weed are all drug addicts. Pretty stupid. Christians are like anyone else, they arn't perfect, they still sin, they still make mistakes. I'm not going to try to get anyone to Belive what I belive, but if they really want to know something I'm glad to share what I can with them. We all have a free choice to belive what we want. I'm not going to judge people on what they do or belive, that isn't my place. It's Gods. My job is to follow My God the best I can and to try to follow in Jesus' examples and forgive and love my neighbor. If you want to hate me well great cause I love you and Jesus Loves you.

When it all comes down to it, this is how I view Christianity, the only concept that truly matters and that is critical to ones salvation:

Jesus died for your sins. Do you belive in him as your savior and accept that he died for you sins?
thats all. Go rape, pillage, steal, murder, lust, idolize...all that shit. But remember that Jesus will forgive those sins if you repent for them. And he does it over and over.

Now thats a very general look, obviously I dont mean that its cool to do bad things that are harmfull and/or immoral. But what I do mean is that the above concept is what defines if one is a Christian. To me the Bible is more of a story book with morals. I dont trust it completley because it contradicts itself too much. But one thing never contradicted is Jesus love for us. Unfortunatley, many and I think most Christians worship the Bible and think of it as infaliable. Well the Bible tells you alot of things NOT to do. When people see those things, they judge others based on specific scentences or passages. They press that on other people, which makes them Hypocrits. The only thing any Christian should tell anyone about Christianity is the message of Jesus, not what thier doing wrong according to the Bible. The Bible is not the infaliable word of God, but unfortunatly most people think it is. But it was written by humans, and while those humans may have been inspired by God, they didnt write it perfect because humans arnt perfect. Those who wrote it undoubtedly incorperated thier own personal judgmental opinions into Gods word. But God is a loving God, and if he isnt than I dont want him as my God. I know he is though, and he loves any person as much as me or any other. I worry somtimes that I become blasphemous with my take on Christianity, semi-discrediting the messages in the Bible, but it is not right that people would make others lives harder (especially homosexuals) in the name of God. Instead, if the message was, God loves you no matter what, no matter who you are, or what you do, than so many more people would know that, and this is from Jesus himself, That God favors the sinner who repents a thousand times over the pious person who repents less because they think they sin less. Well shit, Im sorry if Iv said to much about this, but its one of the biggest concepts my life revolves around, and im very very passionate about it, and about telling people what Gods really is. Your sins are equivelent to a transvestite hooker, or a radical islamic terrorist...and thats why Jesus died for us, and thats how Gods love works.

And the Bible endorses Cannabis, weather people think it does or it doesnt, so ill take the religion that says smoking herb takes me closer to God! :rasta:

For those that press the Bible agaisnt Christ, we press Christ against the Bible

Not to be a wet blanket, but... This revelation is certainly correct about the core message of christianity, though doesn't entirely encompass the whole religion.

^true, if the masses believed that when they died they rotted in the ground, and that they would not be punished for anything in any "afterlife" then they would do w/e the hell they wanted. plus religion is a place where people who are afraid of death go because they preach an afterlife

yes, but why must you call lesbians sinners? just because its written down in some 1500 year old book? i guess i dont get how some invisible force controls everything. you can tell me jesus loves me, but you only think that jesus loves YOU and EVERYONE ELSE because you read it. it makes no sense to me. the other day i read that elvis was still alive, but anyone with half of a brain knows thats bullshit. but, every man to his own.

Oh and btw, I'm not a christian, I am speaking from a christian point of view, I don't believe in heaven or hell.

What ya'll think? Thats exactly correct, but many people don't see it for whatever reason. I know a lot of you would skip the following scripture but please, try and read it! :D

John 15:9-15

9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

The whole idea of not sinning, or restraining from sin, is something that comes natural if you truly love the LORD. Or at least with the re-birth of your spirit. Love is the strongest force and if you truly love God then you will DESIRE to keep his commandments. Now, it may take time for this desire to kick in but if you keep faith it WILL happen. The LORD will never give up on thoes who come to him sincerely. Of course though, we are all sinners and will never be able to follow the LORD perfectly. The point is to attempt to, all good works are in progress.

From my experience and journy to find the truth, I find that God is truly a God of love. People say he can't be because he puts people in hell. You must understand God IS justice in the most literal sense. As much mercy as he has, he must give justice to thoes who don't believe in Jesus. He doesn't want to and wants people come to him through his mercy, but many reject it. Believe in the LORD Jesus and the Father and you will have everything you need. How great is it to have everything on Earth but to lose your own life in the lake of fire? His commandments are not a burden once you come to him. You will literally change.

I really hope someone reads this and if anyone has questions i'll be glad to try and answer them :)
