plug it in and leave it in their untill itunes acknoleges the ipod shuffle device, then it will up load, if it does not automaticly upload your songs the you have your itunes setting on manual. simply click on Edit at the top of your itunes screen, then go to the bottom of that were its sais Preferences, then when that window is open go to where it sais ipod, you can change your manuale to automatic in that window.
hope i was help full, cu i just pretty much discribed how to do it, and if you don't get it then you must be fuckin stupid
Cheers freezland24! I think ive cracked it, for some reason iTunes hadnt installed correctly, so i did a reoair on it and think its doing its thing now(has lil amber light on while plugged into USB whcih wasnt on b4). If not i'll try what you said!
Cheers guys

if it doesnt work restart iTUNES if not then just restart your computer if it still doesnt work re-install itunes it it still doesnt work try looking through a few of these
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=ipod+wont+connect+to+itunes&btnG=Google+Search&meta=
then if it still doesnt you need to send it back to apple.

ok, what you did was you dind't let the shuffle plug in long enough, if you've just gotten it then it can take up to an hr for the ipod to get reconized
did you install the softwear that came with the shuffle?
Yup fully installed and brand new, im guessin I should just leave it over night huh? It wont nacker the battery will it?

you can't put a playlist on a ipod Shuffle....
that's why they're so cheap, because you put music on it, and it automatically shuffles, you don't get to pick whatsoever what song plays next.

ok let me clear some things up here since at one time i owned one, Usedchemicals of course you can choose what song you want next it plays in alphabetical order OR SUFFLE MODE you dont get the use of a LCD screen thats the diffrence.
you can leave that thing plugged in forever it stops charging automaticly i left mine in the computer all the time until i needed it which could have been a few days.
when you plug your ipod in windows should recognize the ipod immediately wether its to install it or use it there should be no longer than a 3-4 second delay after plugging it in(unless your PC is insanely slow) what soulds like the problem is your not installing the actual ipod.
plug in the ipod......go to my computer.....is the ipod with the CD drives?
if not it is not installed so leave it plugged in go to my your start button.....control panel.....addhardware......from here tell your computer it is a new device and you want to locate its drivers now put your itunes CD in your tray click next and it should find its drivers on the CD.

I have this problem. It's not your ipod, it's itunes 7.0, being a piece of crap.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93499
It won't fix it completely, but at least you'll be able to update. It's a real bitch ain't it?
