zandor, i have a question for you, was going to email you, but can find no email address!
the question is , will hydrogen peroxide in my resevoir sollution kill slugs, and their eggs??
i have had this problem for a couple of crops now, i thought i had iradicated them from the grow room by bleeching all tha arlita last time, cleaned and sterilised all pots and equipment, even started a thourough bleaching campaign, disenfectant filled trays and shoes only for use in the grow room! all seemed well until last week! again i found problems with the PH in the tanks falling in grow! a sure sign of the little acid basterds! sure enough on a full flood test i started to find almost microscopic slugs!cant be many days old! the largest i ever found has been 1 cm, these are aeasy to remove but seem to be able to leave eggs even at that early stage of development, the only way the re-infestation could have occoured is threw the two systems being cleaned at different times, or maybe a plant transfered from the affected area, the regime of cleanliness is second to none! I have an entrance chamber to the room, as it enters from out side, where we change footwear, and stand on disenfectant soaked mats. the room is a basement in an area where slugs are common hence the problems, however living within the arlita is a real problem. i dont have to tell you im aware of the root damage they are doing to the plants, let alone the excesive amount of PH plus iam using in the tanks to rectify PH every two floods minimum, thats like 6 ml ph plus every day, in a 100 litre tank! water quality is going down every day! so although i had posted a link on this several mths back, i didnt have the advantage of your feed back,
can i rid myself or new eggs at least with the hydrogen peroxide! and at what ratio should it be used.
thank you,

mistyganjatree

ps the only hydrogen peroxide available is a 6% solution intended for mouth wash and mild disenfectant,, maybe a 50 ml dose per pot{3.5 litres arlita] directly onto the top of the arlita allowing it to soak threw the medium would do the trick, as it is alreay at 6%, or will i need to dilute it more?

bet this is a new onr to you too eh! i like to please.
here is a copy of the link originally posted for your entertainment! lol
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hi people,
this is my first thread,,, I dan't know how many of you out there are very experienced in hydroponics, or if indeed you have ever come accross or even heard of this problem, i have used hydroton four over three years and had no probs, indeed i thought i had solved the problem by flooding them out and picking them off, the thing is they are all very small! the biggest are about half an inch max when stretched out! I first collected 50 or so a month ago dropping them into acid as a revenge for eating my plants roots, they rarely if ever surface they stay under the cover of the arlita {generick name for hydroton pebbles} the only sign i have that they are present is the P H value of the water they are acidic and the PH will drop in grow as aposed to climb as in the norm<<<< i am alass finding myself with dropping PH in grow and as i transfered a clone found four of the little bastards, yet again i am doomed to work over the tanks for hours tommorow trying to flood them out! when i send the tank to overflow and flood all the arlita the slugs try to prevent themselves from drowning and come to the surface thats when i have to snatch them and reep my revenge,,,,,,,, what i really need is something that will kill off the slugs not harm the plants and not effect the arlita!!! asking to much u say? change the arlita you say? trouble is this is a considerable amount of arlita??? over 20 50litre sacks??!!!! expence is an issue....
so if you think you have any ideas how or even where to get help wtith this problem please reply to this
thanks for your time,
misty

well look just above your name and you will see an email addy for me. Then there is the whole other website and the email there. This works as well I guess...lol

To answer your question.

No that will not kill them; they must have been living in a crack of the wall or floor. You can try some gnatrol or some pyrethrum fogger, or some X-Clude Spray, or some SM-90 or SMC. What you need to do to rid any pest is to break the cycle of life for them. That means treating the room every 3 day's for about 2 weeks or 3 weeks to kill the adults, the eggs they lay, and the eggs that hatch late.
You can install a filter on your water fill as well to keep them from circulating through out your system as well.

Zandor, if you don't mind me asking, could you please give your opinions on the various seedbanks in operation in one of the up coming grow reports?
I hear all kinda stuff about the various banks and their genetics, but I'd very much like to hear a guru's review or opinion on the banks.

Thanks.

dont know about guru,
but i have had a bit of experience in the dutch seed banks,
although ya could say that anyone who has an opinion will be bias to there taste, after all it is an opinion,
in my eye the best bank by far, has to be serious seeds, they only have five strains to offer, but man there all great! all cup winners, you cant go wrong with serious seeds in my opinion,100% germination everytime, quality.
however i have used and still do use other banks, although i only grow seed for mothers, there for avoid all feminised seeds, as i find they struggle and stress easy, and are harder to keep in grow for very long without them going hermie, iin my opinion feminised seeds should be used for guirilla grows, or I guess if ya have to grow from seed and dont want to end up with half a crop, serious seeds do not do a feminised seed,
also since the very well advertised and hyped arrival of the "lowrider" every other seed bank seems to have jumped on the comercial possibilities of autoflowering weed!again in my humble opinion the ruderallis would be better left in the hemp fields where it belongs, unless we all want to grow weed with a very low almost legal level of THC! serious seeds dont do a ruderalis cross, I have also tried some of green hse seeds, and although they come very well recomended, on the few strains of theres i have grown, i wassnt impressed, this bank seems to retain its fame for its haze, a very popular strain in the USA iI understand and elsewhere, the sativa dominant strains they offer are not to my taste, and el nino is to say the least is disapointing!again with alot of varieation between seeds, and a substantial amount of lower limb hermaphrodites, the other seed bank i prefer would be sensi seeds, they have a much wider range to choose from and some classics too. there super skunk and skunk and excelent, although as like the chronic from serious seeds they do show two distinct phenotypes, paradise seeds is another good reliably consistant bank, again germination rates are very good, and has some suprising strains, durga mata is a cheap seed but has good yield and taste, grows easy and finishes quick.
there are some banks out there i wont deal with any more, nirvana, KCBrains,
in particular, reasons being, very low germination on KCBrains seeds and unstable genetics, there are more varieties of phenotypes than exist in KCBrains seeds, they also produced alot of hermies in several of there strains, south californian special for one! leda for another. nirvanna seem to have gone down hill too over the years, maybe its all the strains they have, they arent getting them out fresh no more, or maybe its just bad managment, but nirvanna seem to be going the same way, hard to hold some of them in grow for mothers without diverse affects, seed quality just isnt what it used to be! after all nirvanna has got some pretty good strains, or used to have. There is a seed company I'am keen to try out , Positronics, heard alot about them, and they are now in Spain,i believe they had to run from the feds in the USA and bought over some genetics with them, again a very limited supply only three strains available, maybe a xmas present for the grow room, lol,
i spose its only fare to comment on the supplier of the seeds, wether its a wholesale dealer or a grow shop. they buy in stock and sell it when they can, ya never now how long they have been stored before they get to the shop! or befoere the shop sells them to you, a retailer with all the best intentions in the world can store his seeds in a fridge at 7 degrees as recomended, but has no idea of the age of the seeds, when they where harvested! and i guess the seed company's and the retailers want it to stay that way, dont want paranoid customers not buying a pack of seeds cos its 6 mths or a year old! so i guess we never will get harvest dates on the seed packets.
i guess in brief. if a seed company is in buisness, they in buisness for one reason, to make money, and like all buisnesses ya got to make or go under, i put my faith in a company that has faith in its products, doesnt necesarily follow trends in market sales, and has a small well maintained variety of seeds it can run its buisness on, sucsessfully, due to there quality, there is but one serious seeds,
no guru but opinionated.
yours misty

Thanks, bro.

I have heard many good things from Serious Seeds, I don't think I've heard anything bad.

I hear Nirvana uses the same skunk for all their seeds and just rips off other names. Like some of the reviews I've read on ak-48, and almost everyone who's grown ak-47 from serious says there is not comparison between the two. But despite this, a lot of people claim Nirvana has the best bang for your buck seeds.

I was wondering about certain banks like Soma and TH seeds. I haven't heard much about these two banks and a few detailed opinions on their products would be greatly appreciated.

There will be a new show out this Saturday. I have already sent it to dopefiend as I will not be here again this weekend.

This week I talk about KBS style of growing and talk about future plans. I starting thinking it would be a short show but you know me I am too long winded to make anything short. I hope you all enjoy it. JDOG and Mysta is coming down again this weekend to record another show so that should be fun. That way I have another 2 weeks or so while I move and get set back up again.

Again I am sorry about missing last weeks show but we did find another house to buy so all is well once again in my world. Well as well as it gets for me.....lol
