Yesterday. She has been a devout Souther Baptist Christian for the last 40 years and teaches a Sunday school class regularly.

A few months ago my g/f and I got popped with a dime while driving her truck at her beach house. Everyone thinks I have stopped now thanks to drug testing.

Anways, we had a long conversation in which I brought up points about the recent findings about marijuana and Alzheimer's, the religious groups in Nevada pushing to legalize, the fact that God created it, and a host of other seemingly valid points. She kept mentioning it was a "mood altering" substance and as she expanded on that- I pointed out that back when I was toking, I could have been high talking to her and I was fine. (I smoked a blunt on the way there).

The convo went good. Despite my Internet typing/spelling scored tops in my college public speaking classes and I love a good debate. So it went well with her admitting that she saw nothing wrong with medical marijuana if she saw documentation it is legit. She wants now to do her own research to come to her conclusions. I'm sure she won't see it as completely "free of sin" but at least she will hopefully be educated a bit more about it.

Thanks for the read, I just felt like sharing. :rasta:

I dont see how some one would be against something that they believe their god created.

thats exactly what I was thinking...its kind of hypocracy....a little bit...maybe....

Especially if she thinks its sinful.....maybe get some bible verses to share with her...tell her jesus used marijuana (he really did)...they would exract the oil or something and drink it (i forgot why though)

Seems to me that as more info comes out, the people who'd most benefit from cannabis ARE older people. Helps prevent cancer, helps prevent Alzheimer's, helps with arthritis, helps with osteoporosis, helps with memory -- these are ALL things that primarily affect older people. If only one of you two were gonna smoke pot, it should be her, as she has the most to gain by it.

Hypocrisy is a common word found within the confinds of organized religion.

That sister or whatever sounded like an open minded christian. I'm not saying all christians or hypocrites, but there are believers out there who do give a bad name to the good people.

Glad to see you reached someone. Maybe she'll explore further with a big fatty. :D

From her perspective it was this:

When God created everything, it was all good. The plants, animals, the land the works. When the whole debockle with Adam and Eve happened, it made everything "not good." So some stuff was evil, some was good. Marijuana is a mood altering substance which the Bible speaks of being a sin.

The bible confuses me, or, religion confuses me. Hell, everything confuses me. :p

What about the dinosaurs though? They were here long before "Christ" ever was, so is the bible too good for the reptiles or what?

Lol, what do you mean "to good for?"

But there is mention of "huge beasts roaming the earth" or something similar. I used to know when I actually went to church.

Is there any verse that says clearly that mind altering substances are sin? I just cant see that being in the Bible, I mean if it wasnt meant to be used why would it be here? Unless something is man made I dont think it was a mistake or have an "evil" cause.
