LOL or messed up?

Well i was looking through wikipedia and I came to this page.

The sign says "A Pedestrain was killed crossing here"

Is that a actual real sign?
Would they post that up where ever theres a pedestrian killed on a intersection?

I hope im not the only one who thinks its weird.

hmmm, id guess itd be a little strange if they put that on every intersection where a death took place but isnt that what the "stop for me its the law" pedestrian signs are for?

If they put that up on every intersection, there would be more of those sign than stop signs.
