Anyways a friend of mine has discovered a patch of some weed growing in a feild in an area surrounding the city I live in. The patch is about as big as a car or so all around and the way he describes it to have purple looking hairs and crystals all over it he says? Hm not sure whatd you'd classify that as But i have a questiiion

Hes going to bag it all up in trash bags and bring it over to my house what do we do with it to make it smokable? I sound stupid as fuck I know im not a stranger to smoking the shit im just a big stranger to the growth community:)

Look, of course we are upset. We spend countless hours learning how to grow, germinating seeds, pampering and, loving & taking care of them...they are almost like members of the family. To be stolen from is one thing but to have your plants ripped is yet another magnitude of hurt & pain.

Speaking as one who has had half my plants stolen, I was upset that any were gone, but I was grateful they had the decency to at least leave me some. I know you are going to take some, but don't take them all please. It's just so wrong on so many levels.

Happening upon a patch of weed in a field that isn't private property is like spotting a hundred dollar bill on the sidewalk. Of course you're going to pick it up. Unless you're raiding somebody's garden in their backyard it's not stealing. Whoever planted that weed doesn't own the piece of ground on which he planted and therefore doesn't own the plants that grow on it, even if he planted them himself. When you plant on public land or somebody else's, the risk of it getting take is inherent. If I knew where these people live who have been talking shit I would break into their homes and steal their plants and all their equipment, and then I would get on their computers and write a post apologizing to you dope boi. When I was a young buck, and knew nothing about growing or pretty much anything, I would have probably taken the plants (sadly to say). But, then again, I did not have this kind of information available to me at that time.

DopeBOYmagic, I'm sorry that you got immediately flamed for asking your question, and some of the people on here have a very harsh way of dealing with people. Honestly, a good response would have been by a person who understood that you were naive when you asked the question and proceeded to tell you why you shouldn't take the plants in a decent manner without all the cursing. Unfortunately, that did not happen. (Edit: It's been a while since I've read the thread so I don't think anyone approached him that way.)

HOWEVER, that does not give you the right to go back and flame them back. I don't see how that helps the situation. You could have simply explained that you made a mistake and you are sorry and that you wont take the plants. But you went and made a post about how you went and harvested the whole crop (joke or not, it was not funny). Be the bigger person.


In anycase, what I'm saying is that it is unfortunate that this thread turned out to be so argumentative when it didn't have to be. Now that you know...don't steal plants. It's bad karma, and it hurts people. Like some people said, I don't think it would be the worst thing to charge a finders fee, like snipping a low hanging clone or ONE SMALL bud. But, aside from that, leave it be...and tell your friend the same. It will be better for all in the end.

Here's a little story about how stuff like that bites you in the ass. It's pretty funny now that I look back.

Once upon a time, about 8 years ago, I was driving on the freeway, pulled over to a scenic view rest area. While my girl went to go pick flowers, I looked down and saw a small plant growing right next to the highway. Right under my feet! I had been on a two-thousand-mile trip and had unfortunately run out of bud about 400 miles away from 'home.' I took the plant. :(

Looking back, I don't think I was actually stealing since no one would grow on the side of the road out in the open like that anyway. It was probably a plant that sprouted from a seed thrown out a window when someone else pulled over to the very same spot and rolled a doob and chucked the seed.

BUT, funny part about it was...IT HAD NO BUDS ON IT. It was still in its vegetative state and was just leave. I snatched it up, drove to the next exit, bought a newspaper and a bean burrito. I proceeded to microwave the leaves (with the bean burrito in also, for cover), got back in the car, and rolled about 3 or 4 joints of dried leaves...chlorophyll...no THC. Needless to say, I didn't get high, but it kept me smokin' for the rest of the car ride. Like smoking oregano. That's what I get. Pretty funny huh?

So, anyway, I try not to call anyone a dumb newb. Remember. we were all one at one time. But no need to get so violent and angry. Please stop the fighting. Can't we all just get along?

I don't like the way this guy got slandered, granted he perpetuated the arguement when the cardinal rule on the internet is to post nothing at all in situations when your getting jumped. Personally I don't think it makes anyone look good, granted that some growers emotions might be quite high because its a touchy subject, but he's only 17 man. Some of the people posting the most derogatory shit here are well over that and too top that off they are calling him immature. I think he's a good person, he came onto this forum, especially, looking for advice, and it obviously shows he has a moral conscious beacause I know people who wouldn't even hesitant to strip a whole crop from branch to branch. People here have seriously overlooked the fact that he hasn't actually done anything and to top that off he's actually a good kid. So I don't think all that abuse over the last four pages is justified.

Personally, its eay to say what you would or wouldn't do. When like Tupac says when ''Shit goes down, IT just Goes Down !'' Makes me think that some peoples intentions are to get him to take the entire crop because they have been so bang out of order and fucking inconsiderate to someone, who in actuality was asking a fucking question. If you ever had your crop taken you wouldnt be very nice your self.I lost about 800 to 900 plants to some kids once,all they did was run over them with avt's.The next year I was growing 2x that much and went too cut them down and all I found was a business card tack to a stake from the Sheriffs
office saying come on down to my office and claim your pot.So when someone wants to take plants that they dont own I get real PISS OFF and want to pound the shit out of them.But that's not a good thing to do.
In the end it all comes back to you in 10 folds.

That's ridiculous Volker - most outdoor growers grow on public or government land to avoid legal complications - we grew on Vincent Price's property near Santa Cruz for the same reasons.

It hasn't happened yet. And it ain't likely to happen. I'm sure most growers who are serious about their crop grow in places where a person like me is not likely to pass. And I think the guy in the thread start - who hopped someones fence and found a patch in their field - is in the wrong.

And I know you outdoor growers hate people who, like me, have no problem with sampling your crop on national forest property. For all intents & purposes, in your eyes I'm a thief. In my eyes I picked flowers in the woods, and feel just as guilty about it as I would had they been Arrowleaf Balsamroot or Lupine. (And the legal penalties for removing plants from national forest property are much worse than the penalties for mere cannabis possesion!)

But that's prolly only because I've never run into any while hunting, hiking, camping, etc. (Which means the growers were doing a good job) In my younger days I was out in the wild a lot. And I've never ran into any buds. I've snipped and brought back plenty of other plants, tho: balsamroots, bitterroots, lupines, cacti, berry shrubs, etc., and put 'em in my garden at home.

If I run into buds, it's gonna be in a place that is fairly easilly accesible, as my mobility is limited. But I would feel no more guilt that I would picking any other flower in a public place. I'm sorry you feel this is thievery.

Again, I must restate that I do respect private property. Not that that makes any difference in your eyes.

When growers damage public property using pesticides, fertilizers, irrigation that erodes the hillside, that is itself thievery from all the rest of us. Of course, that is mostly the guerrilla growers who come from south of the border. That being said, why does this goof kid have defenders?!?! you came to the wrong forum dude. This place is for growers, you know, the guy your taking this shit from. A patch like that doesn't grow wild by itself these days, not close to a city anyway.

We all know you will take everything so my only piece of advice to you is be sure there are no booby traps. Depending on who you are dealing with, they may have lost a crop or two before. This might be the final straw for them and on the edge of the patch they might have placed fish hooks, pungee sticks or even those shot gun shell traps that are tied to a plant. One good tug and blamho. So be careful. Watch cautiously for whomever might be near by either guarding the crop or returning for harvest. You aren't the only one who isn't stupid, likely your grower is fully aware that harvest time is near and may be checking daily his crop.

Frankly I'm surprised anyone helped you at all with that confession. Next time try a thread that doesn't hint of theft of crop.

actually in no way shape or form are you part of the grow community. Your nothing but a thief who is trying to ome up and steal someones hard earned work. Someone planted it there, so someone is probably counting on the cash in order to pay bills and other expenses.

I made something of a discovery recently too. I ride my Harley any chance I can and the other day I swear I passed through an area that smelled just like my garage! I immediately thought of this thread. It never occurred to me that bikers have an advantage over motorists in that they can smell the air they drive through. I didn't bother to investigate further, but I did have a laugh at my discovery as I drove through appreciating the aroma.
