"The CannaButter is now ready to simmer and cook for 22-24 hours. This amount of time is important. It is required to extract the THC from the finely ground Cannabis. However, you do not want to cook the CannaButter any longer than 24 hours. NO MORE THAN 24 HOURS. After 24 hours the THC will degrade and the butter will go bitter.
During this 24 hour cooking period you will need to check on the CannaButter every few hours to ensure that the boil is not to strong and to ensure that the butter has not reduced to much. If you find the solution reducing faster than expected it does not hurt to add a few table spoons of water over the 24 hour period."
is this a typo for 22-24 minutes?

I'm pretty sure you only actually need 3-4 hours. I've never ever heard of 24. That may be on an incredibly low temp?

That seems a little off. When I made cannabutter, I only needed to let it boil in the water for about an hour and a half. Good luck!

If you made oil...and then put a drop of it on food, would it work? (i'm talking about butane oil y'know) Or does it need to be combusted? Like on the end of a cig, or even on top of a bowl.

Hash is active, as far as I know, orally.
Maybe it was psychological...but I ate .5 of hash oil once and was pretty stoned for a good amount of time.
As for cooking....22-24hrs seems a bit much. And you aren't really supposed to boil it...but simmer it.

It is not to much.. why didnt this get brought up in the CannaButter discussion?
It DOES require 22-24 hours with that recipe because you are using water, butter and heat... that's it.
It's not a typo. The reason it is so much is because to be done properly and accurately.. you need that much time to extract the THC at a light simmer. Like phoenix said, at a very low temp.
This is to prevent burning off the thc (167degrees is the THC vap. point.)
It CAN be done other ways.. but this is a club approved recipe.. and trust me, they know what they're talking about.
The oil simmer is often done wrong and you actually lose a lot of the THC without even knowing it.
Hope this helps,
There are many ways of doing it.. but only one way that a medicinal cannabis club will do it. And that's using the same recipe i posted.
Bob.

When I made butter, it took me about 6hrs to make. It's a long process but it's worth it.
And the 22-24hrs thing makes sense. It takes longer, but that ensures you that you get every shred of THC from the plant material.
