I am in my young 30s. It so sucks being at this age. When u do surveys and chit, it groups you in with up to 50 years old. Oh lord, is it all down hill from here? Thunderstorm in my area tonight and it is dry inside.

Hey bc-bud-girl (the boards won't let me write your screen name for some reason) .... sorry to hear you're so dry .... you and my lawn make a pair ;) Finally getting some rain here too. It figures ... I spent a good part of the day watering it.
Anyway, don't be so down. I don't think it sucks being this age, especially seeing how some of the teens around here act. I'm glad to be past all that. Yeah, it's a little more difficult to hook up, especially if you don't have a regular connection. People keep this kind of 'hobby' under wraps, due to the risks. You'd never think I did, if you met me.
I noticed you posted your Yahoo IM on your profile. If ya want, I can send you some tips that might help ya out. Is your email under the same name?

Cannabis has become to wide spread to the youth these days, too many kids come on forums like these and spread their ignorance around. I'm not much older then you, only 20 but i feel the same way.

I'm 30, a smoker, and a professional. And, like Binger, you'd never know it if you met me. (Well, maybe not never.) :)
It's truly sorry that high schoolers have infinitely easier access to cannabis than someone like myself does. To any HSers reading this, 1) there's plenty of time to smoke later, when frankly your maturity permits you to handle it better, and 2) you're quite lucky but you shouldn't be. Oh, and I hasten to add 3), I will not discuss cannabis with you at all. Ever. Other than to say that there's plenty of time to smoke later.
That stated and with soapbox stowed away, I think PaigeTurner's idea is a splendid one. (Hi, Paige!!! :) ) Let's us "older" folks commiserate with each other at a Starbucks or some such. We can figure out an identification marker through private messages, but regardless and notwithstanding, we can either pool resources or cry on each other's shoulders, whichever seems more appropriate.
Peace and love, all.

... plus it makes those of us dry feel bad. I agree with you O'skool - those kind of posts bore me as well.
So ... it looks like there's at least a few of us 'professional' tokers (not read as a 'professional toker', although, I'm not sure I would mind that claim). As Universer said, we should all get together. Although, I have to say - I've met Universer, and I think if he didn't tell me, I might have guessed he toked. I suppose ... 'it takes one to know one' applies?
Anyway, if others are interested, perhaps we can get together locally. I'm in the Sterling area, and would prefer to hang out with people close by. I know Universer is close, anyone else? From meeting a couple people around here - I think it's approprate to be 30+ for this get together. Younger than that, and going to clubs/drinking is still a big part of your social activities. I've past that, gotten married, and am quite content discussing world events, politics, computers/electronics. I miss the deep conversations while high. Discussion forums like this get tough to exchange a good conversation - I crash in the middle of a thread.
Don't get me wrong, I think these boards are great - bringing like minded folks together, and educating all of us. I've learned a LOT more browsing these boards for the last couple years. I just stick with reading while I'm not high. Too much work to conduct a good conversation on a discussion thread.

Apologies MisterWizard, it's just that typically the 20-something crowd is, as I was, and many people I've known, more into clubs and other activities that I don't enjoy as much these days. Single/married groups tend to move in different circles as well. When I was single, I was typically more interested in doing things that had opportunities to meet other singles, like going to clubs.
Sure, there are exceptions, but around northern VA, this has been my experience.
MisterWizard
09-28-2007, 11:28 PM
I agree completely binger. I am the exception to the rule as far as my behavior for a twentysomething. When I go out, its usually to make an appearance and then quickly duck out to do something more low key, such as the things you described. I am a working professional also. Very nice to know that main-stream America is seeing the light on Cannabis and smoking bud is no longer limited to highschool dropouts and others with a subcultured label.
So I make the trip out to Sterling nearly every weekend to see some buddies. Are you still trying to organize a get together?

I'm 33 and hold a professional job. I like to smoke weeds as often as I can but there is a time and place for it. Otherwise.... I don't go to work looking like a stoner. Once I'm off from work.... its bong time! **Not to mention... I have family to support too...... so they come first before bag of weeds**

Fascinating. I remember the unbelievably rude and immature things that were posted at OG by those professing to be adults. Many would "out" themselves simply by their responses to simple questions such as the one posed by the OP.
But, to answer the question (ignoring how old the question was:) ), I can tell by just browsing through this thread that there's a healthy amount of rational adult members here. Good. We (and I say this as a 35 year old) need to dispel the myth of marijuana smokers being juvenile and/or irresponsible.

I'd still be super down for a meet up, any of you play chess? I'm glad there are active posters in these age ranges, makes me feel like I still have some fun to look forward to! I am just under 30 and I've been shaking my fist at the youngins for ages. I usually just go see movies alone nowadays, I caught all those "8 Films to die for" that one weekend about a year ago, which was awesome, but no one was with me on the parking garage roof between showings :( I'm Reston bound, but everywhere is a 30 min drive or so. And definitely a working professional here too, although I guess by default I don't really like my job, but I watch a lot of craft shows at work so I guess that's pretty awesome.

When I take a hit of it, I feel as though Im about to pass out (I still have some left becuase I refuse to smoke it). Its the biggest pain becuase I was going to this guy for about 5 years. I think the 'man' has this area under pretty good lock-down.
You really have to be from around here or know someone, otherwise, it's tough. The person who was helping me out dropped off the face of the earth in early Jan. I'm kicking myself for not widening my network of contacts when I had the chance.
I'm a recent immigrant from the ATL who grew up in Florida. Much easier to approach people in the South, IMO.

About the south: One time about five miles from Myrtle Beach SC, I was waiting for my grandfather to get his wine from his favorite wineshop (which was in a small shopping center), I spotted two very chilled, appropriately dressed rhasta-dirtysouth-looking bros outside the large grocery store. So I casually walked at angle towards them, but let them know I was looking for trees, and within about a minute, we had walked right over to this clapboard run down community, exchanged goods, and went our ways. It was so easy. I dont know if I looked the part, or they just didnt care. :rasta:
Another two times in Arlington, Texas, on a large thoroughfare, I walked by, asked, another guy told me to follow him, we went into the convenience store to this soda section, we did it right there for 20, I bought a grapefruit fanta or something and went home happy. It was not skimped either.

So many of you have hit it on the head. The area itself is what has me paranoid.
I slug-ride to and from work and actually got in a car one morning where it was just obvious from the aroma in the car that he'd "partaken" the night before. Unfortunately, there was two other people in the car who refused to get out before I did so I could talk to the guy.
I haven't seen that guy since then. Sigh.....
