Hello,
I am going ahead with my 1st attempt at flowering my 1st plant. It's been vegging for over 3 months now and the 6500K lights were ON 24hrs a day non stop during ALL that time. I have a few questions...

1- All I have is 6500K lights. Will that work? I know I need 2700K lights but they are $10 each (the 42 watt ones) and I cannot afford to buy half a dozen of them right now. May a couple though, will see. Will daylights cfls work for now?

2- Walmart has Scott's Bloom Builder 10-40-10 (or close to those numbers, I can't remember exactly) for about $5 with tax. No problem but should I start mixing that with water ASAP?

3- The plant is now in a 12/12 cycle. Can I switch the fan off when it is sleeping?

Please give me some advice.
I could have more questions later in the future.

     :p

Hi there Buzzedlady,

I've just done a grow so I will try to help...

1) 6500k lights will work but 2700k is better, if cost is a problem - try buying one a week or something and replace the 6500k's gradually, it won't hurt them. I read that some dutch growers use 6500k all the way.

2) Plants need more potassium for flowering so NPK - 10-40-10 is good, but build up to max strength gradually say add half what you should for the first two weeks or so, then build up to max dose so as not to shock the plants - also some people stop the nutes completely two weeks before harvest.

3) Sure - I had my fan on the same timer as the lights so it was off too when they were sleeping. (keep an eye on the temps though.)

The best of luck
Hall

Hi sdhall,
Thanks very much for your help!
Do you remember the link or site where you read about the dutch growers?
Sounds interesting.

hi - sorry for the late reply, it was in a copy of "Soft Secrets" I think - damn I've read so much...
here's a link anyway - http://www.soft-secrets.nl/past_uk.html

You can skim past the porn at the front which isn't condusive to growing, I made the mistake of looking and my wife walked in - she thought I was surfing porn!
I'm like "noooo it's a grow mag!"
Her response... "yeah right" followed by a slamming door...

So be careful,

your friend - Hall x

haha sorry bout the bad timing, most people have told me its best to keep the fan on 24/7 to strengthen the plant. good luck!
