CFL's (compact flourescent lights) - Cheapest way
you should by 2-3 30 watt daylight bulbs (CFL) for vegging
and 2-3 40 watt Soft/or Warm bulbs for flowering
thats what im goin with, and it will cost you less then 100 dollars
Goodluck
Edit: I joined up 10 days ago and have learned so much its unbeleivable, when you have the freetime just read up all the threads that can relate to your size of grow in general then you will kno exactly what your looking for, just go from page to page:thumbsup:

no ballast required he is talking about energy saving lights the sprial type also known as CFL's (compact fluorescent light) you can buy them ANYWHERE they range from 13watt to 42watt but i have seen 55w ones get the biggest you can find

You can also get big horticultural CFLs for not too much, but they do need a bigger socket that costs about $10 on its own, or $50 for the whole reflector. Be aware though that these bulbs tend to break during transport, so it's usually better to just go get some regular CFLs.

yeah I meant the socket
I am limited to buying something online
cause I ride the bus and don't want to transfer the lights that way
I am trying to get my whole setup at once

You dont have to buy compact Fluros Online. GO to HomeDepot or Walmart. they sell em there, and people use them all over to save on energy costs in Home Lamps. They are also known as Twisties...
Chekc the Thread at the top of the Indoor Growing sections CFL disscussion you should find some pictures and such.

save some more money hombre...
if u know how to do electrical buy a bare bones ballast and wire it yourself...these are usually around 100 bucks if u know someone....then u need a reflector $35 bucks, and a socket 5-25.....
get a 600w..... i am surprised how many people dont get powerful lights....the small ones do the job.... but if u wanna grow the good bud u've been buying they use 600 and 1000s, 400's are for veg rooms....

Check out ticoblunts thread. Oh wait, they're out of your price range :(
Insidesun looks pretty good, even though it's a refurbished ballast. Ebay also has very competitive prices.

I got my 400 watt metal halide off of ebay for 17 bills. plus 15 for shippin. it was a industrial light though but i just took the ballast and what not out of the shell so i could keep the ballast out of the grow room. works great, just underestimated the heat.
