how many people here have used stems for screens at one point or anohter, you know like chucnk a couple of small pieces to big to fit through the hole in the bottom of the bowl.

its a good idea if you have to do it, but i dont have a screen i just load the nug without breaking it up

I just break off a piece of a nug thats big enough to not get sucked down, and put that on the bottom. Sometimes I just put a whole nug in though. I don't really like packing stems as I find they produce less smoke, and a harsher hit.

Definitely did that once. A friend and I were sitting around with no herb, but a whole shit load of stems. We picked the stems clean of little pieces of bud and managed to amass enough shake for a good sized bowl, but alas we didn't have a screen, so I made one with some of the small stems.

I was actually very proud of myself. :D

nah, i just use bud. i have a wood pipe that i dont use a screen with it, i find it more natural, and the bud doesnt get sucked in, its pretty sweet.

i don't generally use screens either but sometimes you know you have th at shake left over not quite enough for a joint or whatever, and i usually have atleast one stem in my bud (i always save it til the end, i never pick stems out and throw them away, they stay in my stash can til my bud is gone) i come to that left over shake and a chunk a stem down in the end, i never usually smoke it/them tho, smoke til the bud is cashsed and that's it.

Funnily enough thats what i use as screen for my bong, i always save the small stems from my grows for it. I dont use my bong much though :(

I've never tried it, but it seems like it would make the smoke harsh as hell. Stems taste like pickled ass.

The idea is you dont burn the stems.

but imagine if you toke too hard.....youd get that mining burning stem taste
