Question about drying and curing

Everything I read says that you have to dry bud in a DARK place.. what is the reason for the dark ?.. what would happen to the bud if light got to it ??

Degraded THC is not a good thing since you have spent over three months to get to the point to harvest. How you treat the plant after harvest is just as important as how you treated it while alive.
