Police raid local legal marijuana dispensary

By Arnell Dimaandal
NewsChannel 3

Federal agents and local police raid a legal marijuana dispensary in Palm Springs. The drug enforcement agency says it's the department's latest move here in the Coachella Valley in enforcing a federal ban on all narcotics.

According to the DEA, a worker here at Palm Canyon Caregivers, named Josh Aleck allegedly visited the Spa Resort And Casino and left an unusual tip for one of the casino workers.

Instead of cash, Alleck allegedly left "edible marijuana" as token of his gratitude, according to the DEA. That's considered "illegally distributing narcotics."

Though Californians voted for medicinal marijuana, federal law considers all cannabis illegal. The DEA also adds that Alleck did not pass off his unusual tip as medicinal marijuana.

So far, no arrest has been made.

This is getting ridiculous. What's the point of state law if federal law can override it?
