Leaf trimmngs

This may or may not have been covered before but im new here and im curious so ill ask....

A friend of mine who grows a few plants gave me about 1-2 oz of the leaf trimmings. Is it worth my time to shake it threw a screen and then press it for smoking? I did a little bit of this last and got plenty of threw the screen but it was a very green colour compared to the yellowish keif that my grinder collects. So my question is, is this worth my time? Or should I just pitch the leaf trimmings? I figure theres got to be something I can do with them.

Yeah, oil is always nice.

The reason you got a greenish hash last time is because a lot of leaf matter fell through. That could be that you were pressing too hard on the silk screen, or the silkscreen you're using didn't have tight enough stitching in it.

I find making hash with the big, green fan leaves is not as plentiful as making oil. There isn't a lot of vvisable trichs on fan leaves, but making oil with them, the chem. soaks in the fan leaves, ensuring you get what inside of the leaves.

The best trimmings for hash are those little snippetts you get from manicuring the buds. Those trimmings have visable trichs on them, trichs mean hash, so I find those are the best to use.

Well the screen I used was only a old panty hose. I know thats not the best thing to use but I just wanted to see what kind of results I would get. I just used a old pill bottle put the pantyhose over the top, put the lid back on, turned it upside down and then shook it for all i was worth. Now these leaf trimmins have already been cut up pretty small, if that makes a difference.

Id probably blow myself up following those directions lol. Plus I live in a condo in the city which would make it that much more difficult. I assume theres got to be a few different ways to make the oil out of it though no?

Yeah, making oil in my opinion, should only be done outside. Even then, it's dangerous. When heating away the chem. butane, you have to make sure the goods inside the pit don't reach a certain temp., or it will combust. It happened to me a few months ago. I wasn't being cautious enough and the entire pot full of Iso oil blew into a flame, and blowing on the flames just make them bigger. :p

You could just leave the Butane mix in a lidless container out for a week. It will eventually evaporate on it's own and you'll be left with a honey oil. It will smell and it is highly flammabke, so make sure you put it in a well ventilated area and away from heat, flames, sparks, etc...it's all too risky for some smoke if you ask me. I'm never making oil again, fuck that.

How about some food? Make some cannabutter. Look in the Recipies forum here and do a search. They'll show you how to make it. It's pretty easy actually and doesn't smell too bad. Just as long as you have a oven upper exaust fan, that will carry the smell right out of the building.

Yeah making the honey oil is probably out for me. My wifey wouldnt let me work on a project like that at home.

I for sure would have blown myself up if I had tried it.

I just bought some silk screen on ebay. Id rather put it threw that, press it and then smoke it as opposed to turning it into butter but is that worth it?

well if you can get ahole of pure acetone (i think hardware stores sell it) then that works really really well, just let it soak for a good time, then take the buds out and let it evaporate. but dont use nail polish remover, apparently it leaves bad chemicals..

if you get some high-% isopropyl alcohol, that works too. and its alot easier to get
