Hmm the statute of limitations is something like eight years, but whatever you do don't contact the gov about this. If you really want to know what's going on you should probably contact a lawyer, or just take a long vacation in a different country.

No you don't have to wait, just inform some authorities about what happened.

You are probably already too late to sue the school. Your state's statute of limitations began running when the incident occured. See a lawyer ASAP to see if there's a valid exception to the statute of limitations.
--to the original question, the SOL is way down the road. Just keep your fingers crossed. The longer the delay to charge you the stronger the argument that it was a minor offense. Just be sure that they did not charge you. It's possible you are in default on the case.

i checked with a lawyer, and he said that the staute of limitations hasnt run out, but i cant sue the school until im a legal adult. the SOL runs out three years after i become a legal adult
