Those of you that have grown White Widow from seed, What color should they be? I just got my pack from seed boutique and they are a tan color with a spot of brown here and there. When I put them in a glass of water, they all floated. Is this normal?

white or very pale seeds are generally immature ... seeds that take more than a few hours to absorb water and sink, are also questionable ... seeds that you can crush between your fingers are definitely no good ... other than that, most seeds look the same, and vary mostly in size only, you cannot discern strains by looking at a seed ... some believe the 'tiger-striped seeds' are the most potent, but I have seen no proof of that ... :smokin:

Are they fully wetted and still floating?
It could just be surface tension of your water, which is why you have to wait until they get WET.

I didn't leave them in the water. I just dropped them in there to see which ones floated. I know with mornig glory seeds, if they float, then it means there is air in the seed and it's not viable. But I wasn't sure with cannabis. I got a free pack of master kush and they all were tan and also floated. I placed them in a wet paper towel and now they are dark brown in color. One actually cracked open. Its been 48 hours. I wanted to wait to see what the master kush did first before I messed with my white widow. I figure since white widow is from a white bud, mayby the seeds are naturally pale compared to other seeds.

The 10 white widow seeds, I received from Nirvana seeds, were dark green, and the size of a BB and as hard as a rock. But so did the 10 rhinos.

my Dutch Passion White Widow seeds were brown, looked no different than any other seed I've seen in the past 40 years ... they are in veg now, doing quite nicely, big, shovel-shaped leaves, you can really see the indica influence ... :smokin:
