Ok, so after reading this: http://www.bmezine.com/news/guest/20060331.html
I got interested in doing the same thing. Im a huge tech geek and that stuff is just tight.
So I looked up some magnets and found these: http://unitednuclear.com/magnets.htm Specifically the 1/4th by 1/6th of an inch rod ones about half way down the page.
I dont have any way of coating the magnets so they are biologically safe but I found http://astp.com/coating/parylast.html as a place to coat the magnets.
They are my second choice after the first place I talked to stopped responding to me. :( ASTP quoted me a $950 per batch price. I can do 100 pieces per batch.
Would any one be interested in helping foot the bill and get a (some) magnet in return? $12/magnet is what Im thinking would cover everything (except shipping out of US.) If 50 people are seriously interested I will be willing to pay the remainder myself.
Anyone interested?

I think you would get more replies if people actually know what you mean. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are plenty of you that do know, and think I'm a stupid n00b cos I don't know what it is. Plus, I ain't able to use the hyperlinks to read up what you are actually talking about.
Would you be able to tell me more, as I seem intriuged with it.
Cheers.

Ok, first a rant about the admin... Editing after 5 minutes is disabled. Must contact admin. Contacting the admin is disabled. WTF?
Disregard my first post. I misread my notes as to how many times they needed to coat the magnets.

They are my second choice after the first place I talked to stopped responding to me. :( ASTP quoted me a $950 per batch price. In order to get the magnets completely covered they'll have to run the process twice as there is one side (the side that is down) that doesnt get coated. That makes a total of $1900 per 100 magnets. 100 being the most they will let me run at one time.
Would any one be interested in helping foot the bill and get a (some) magnet in return? $24/magnet is what Im thinking would cover everything (except shipping out of US.) The guy I talked to was interested in what I intended on doing with the magnets because I told him they were for personal use. He said that they (the company) really like helping out home users/ not big corps and he would talk to his boss so there is a small chance that the price they want will go down. If that happens the price/magnet will also reflect that change. If 50 people (or anything that adds up to 50 magnets) are seriously interested I will be willing to pay the remainder myself.
Anyone interested/ need more info?

Sorry for being lazy and expecting people to follow outside links ;)
In a nutshell: Some people implanted magnets under their skin in their fingers and gained the ability to feel magnetic fields.
Sensory Experimentation Somatosensory Extension
Reflections by Todd M Huffman [excerpt]
http://www.bmezine.com/news/pubring/20040226.html
I am now able to perceive magnetic fields in ways not naturally possible. The sensation is different than holding a magnet, as the neurons are stimulated with a higher resolution. With the implant I can detect subtle changes in polarity and strength that I cannot when equipped with a magnet in the conventional manner. Yet the most significant observations have come from another property of implants, their relative permanence to exogenous artifacts. Being able to perceive magnetic fields has expanded my conscious perception of magnetic fields â??in the wildâ??.
In one sensory incident, I was walking out of the library, and I sensed the inductive anti-theft device. I have walked in and out of dozens of libraries hundreds of times, and never once have I thought about the magnetic fields passed through me to prevent me from stealing a book. I have been intellectually aware of the mechanism, but never paid attention until now. Another time I opened a can of cat food for my girlfriendâ??s pets, and I sensed the electric motor running. My hand was about six inches away from the electric can opener, and I was able to sense where the motor was inside of the assembly. Again it brought my attention to a magnetic source that I understood intellectually, but would have otherwise been unaware of. I feel I am one step closer to fully grokking the reality I inhabit.
The experience of my implant is not nearly as rich as my visual or auditory sensation, but nevertheless after a week it has dramatically changed the way I think about my daily sensory experience. A small magnet embedded in a finger may seem like a trivial exercise. I find it difficult to explain the significance, somewhat akin to trying to explain to a blind person what it is to see. The problem isnâ??t defining the technical characteristics of the visual system, but one of trying to convey what conscious perception of certain wave frequencies does to the way a person conceptualizes the world.
In modifying my body I have ever so slightly altered the way I organize the world in my mind. I eagerly await the day in which I can integrate more elaborate senses into myself. With every passing minute I try to see radiant heat, hear radio waves, and think the thoughts of those that pass by. And by better understanding what I cannot feel, I can fully appreciate what I have now.

As I stated, I cant access the links, and I still have no clue what the magnets are going to be used for, lol.
At a guess, is it something about the implantation of treated magnets into the body? (Body Mod(ification)

Ah, lol, you posted that in reply to my post. My second post was being typed whilst you posted the reply for me.
And my uneducated guess was correct.
Doesn't it feel weird and heavy and stuff?
I think it would be class if you had hidden implants and was able to 'magically' attract more metal to you without anyone realising you had an implant.
Lol, not for me though. Sorry for wasting your time. But you learn something new everyday. Good luck in your venture.

JuggaloAtTheDoor: yeah, pretty much. Almost like a 6th sense. Magnetic fields are -everywhere.- Plus I am a fan of body modification and I think it would be pretty cool. :rasta:
