Hey there....

I was considering growing at uni. I have a flat with 5 other ppl, and each has his own room with his own wardrobe. I was wondering whetehr it would be risky growing at the university. My flat mates won't mind me growing and the smell won't matter to much as long as it doesn't seep out of the flat. I cant cut up the wardrobe off course. The main worry I have is the electricity that my room will be using - will that not make it kinda obvious that something is going on in my room? Or would it use the same amount of electricity as a PC or something like that would?

Have you ever grown in university flats?

I have thought with a small grow in a wardrobe CFL lighting would be ok, but as far a risk factor goes, that`s for you to asses.

Good luck bro.

5 roommates= 5 more people than should know about a grow.
Best to keep it to the outdoors if you can't grow indoors safely.

Well Im more than willing to keep my door shut all the time as it is. And not inform them on what im doing. I dont think its the time of year to grow outdoors and with this drought I really have no other option.

Well I suppose your mind is made up then.
I used to know a kid who had a 55 gallon drum fermenter and a still in his room... whatever risk you're gonna take, you're gonna take.

the smell itself is a dead giveaway that someone is either smoking a lot of pot or growing it inside my house wreaks when i get home at night people all the time say i smoke too much pot so i agree with them :)

I guess my question would be whether your roomates would get in trouble if you were caught. Could you be kicked out if you were found out? Could your roomies? I also agree that the less people know the better. People love to talk.

i agree with the above post, if your university is close to a forest just wait until sprong and go out and do some guerilla farming and tell know one

Billy mate just go careful man, we would`nt want you to shaft your educatiob/future for the sake of some indoor growing. I can understand your flat mates being cool about you growing but they`ll tell everyone and their dog dude, think on.

I`m with Masterchronic in by waiting for spring and let mother nature do the bizz.

Kind regards.

Is it worth fucking up your life? you will never be able to attend another uni, it will be on your criminal record and could effect your future jobs.....

Is it worth this happening to another 5 ppl?

tbh if you got me kicked out of uni i would kick your ass, but thats just meh :P

Yeah... Its just tempting i suppose, but the risk is really big. I think I'll just wait till spring n get some going then. Tho i think its highly unlikely ill get caught, there is still a chance and its not worth it.

i think its highly unlikely ill get caught, .

Actually it's highly likely that you WILL get caught.
If the university owns the building, they can come in any time they want. It's not like you are protected by a lease.
Just study hard and if you are really interested in growing, take some botany classes just to get started.

I did it a while back.....EXTREMELY risky given the circumstances......

Based on my experience and living with peopole...its best to a) do it outside the institution and b) do it ALONE!!!!!!!! (not even with gf's)

Most univeristy owned places seperate academics and living...suppose you got caught, chances are youll be repremanded by the living ppl as opposed to the academic people. However, if they determine that growing in an area is illegal and wrong (lol), they may consider calling the cops (just like living in an apartment). Most of the time, universities DO NOT go into rooms and check them out for drugs and such.....unless theres suspicion to believe that there is (i.e. smell from room, etc..)

Read over your contract with your room and make sure they must schedule visits (like mine). If they were allowed to do that...most people would not prefer to live in their since their privacy is a concern...

But seriously, 5 people....I wouldn't even think about it....Heres a better idea....get $200 from each of your roomies and buy a pound or so....should last you all 4 months....and its cheaper on the wallet in the long run.

You must remember....your GROWING weed, not smoking it. If the University gets on your tail and calls the cops, your fucked for a couple a years (Jail time)...Id make sure theres no one else involved. Just stick to yourself and dont get your ego get a hold of you.

as for getting caught.....if you do it by the book and conceal the smell, you shouldnt have anything to worry about...and if you got nosey friends...drop them....no simple/known for a couple of years friend should be worth jail time

Yeah I figured it's too worrying too grow it. I mean I don't wanna risk my education and my whole future life for weed. I do have quite a big field near my flat so I'll go there and do it in spring. As for now, I'll just pick up ounces n stuff. The university doesnt have scheduled checks for the room, so they would only come in if there was a suspicion id expect, though i do reckon it would be unlikely. And I like to keep my room as my private, personal space. ie I don't let flat mates or friends come in much, never mind letting them sit down or anything like that in my room to chat. I suppose i just wanted to experience growing my own stuff and not having to pay shit loads for little amounts, or having to wait hours on a drug dealers "20 minutes".

Oh well... hopefully, in 7 years timeish i'll have my own house where I can grow my own shit - assuming Im still smoking it then!

Annnyway, thanks for the advice people, I appreciate it.
