I'm in my first grow and I have two female out of six plants should be three but my dog picked early but thats on anouther post. I have one female plant that I would like to take clones from and need to know when is the right time to do so. I put it into flower about 3.5 weeks ago and It was bushy and 8 to10 inches high at the time. Its now 30 inches wide and real close to 2 foot high. It drinking about 1/2 gallon water per day you can also see and hear it grow. It has about 40 to 50 bud started they are coming out all over the plant. I have heard post that you should get a good female and use that for the Mother Plant. I have seen many of pictures of your guys plant and This plant seems to much busher than 90% of the Plant I seen. I Think this is my mother plant. Now the ?, when do I take clones now while in flowering wait until end of flowering which a this time I would guess it to be 7 wks. or do I put back in Veg state now even with buds. I would really like the smoke for x-mas present to myself but if that means that I will lose the plant for any future clones then I believe this is once in lifetime plant and would scarefice bud for the better good of future crops. Also I would like to know what to expect from bud growth like I said this has many buds and I wonder if the plant will be able to support the wieght. It not a problem now branches are pretty stout and main stem big around as thumb. Should I start some kind of support or just attack that problem when and if needed. Sorry no Digital Camera Pleas Help.

Hello,

You really want to take clones before the plant starts to bud. Now if you take a clone with a developing bud site it will have a hard time rooting. The plant only wants to do one or the other (root or bud) If done right the clone will stop growing bud and start growing roots.

You could try to re-veg the mother but since it has already been budding for 3.5 weeks I would not recommend it. The plant will stress out.

Try to pick out some areas with the least amount of budding, maybe on the lower branches, and hope for the best. I am sure that if you take a few extra clippings that you will be sure to get a few to root. Then you can just let them grow out and use one for your mother.

I hope this helps.

Peace

I acquired some 4 litre jugs food 1) flora gro 2) flora micro & 3) flora bloom. which one do I use first or do I use all of them in a mix. he did not leave with much instruction and is out of town for 1 month. Help please.......
