my seedlings have popped out of their cubes and i've put them under a 250w HID for 18 on/6 off. my friend thinks this might be harsh for the little fellas, is he right?
also, a couple have bent heads, is it an issue?

Hello,

I generally start my seeds under fluorescent lighting. Then move them to the HPS once they are around 10-14 days old.

Since the HPS is a 250 it may be just fine. Seedlings are susceptible to damage when under intense light. Also watch to make sure that the light does not dry out their cubes.

Overall I think you should be fine. If you start to see any adverse affects immediately change their lighting.

If you mean that the heads are bent such as the one in the pic, then that is normal. The seedling will straighten itself out as it stretches for the light.

Congrats on the grow, what strain are you using?

Take care

Peace

I'm using some skunk#1 seeds from grass city.
I think you may have had a point on the cubes drying out, i've given them another soak in nutrient solution with some extra vitamins but is it too late? here are my healthiest and weakest plants.

Rockwool, some sware by it, im a new grower myself... but ive tried it a few times I hate it, horrible luck, good soil and i was totally set. Depends on where, what lights, what strands... I guess it all makes a difference but im a straight soil guy I think ;) That one on the left looks really good, do you not have a fan on them? There gonna get weak without a decent fan! I have my fan on pretty much 24/7 there little 2" right now, really leafy... very healthy SO FAR... strong... eh :)
