Pot stolen from S.Bend police car
SOUTH BEND, Ind. ?? Someone heisted several pounds of marijuana from the open trunk of a city patrol car, police said.
The drug was being used to train a police dog and was in the trunk of the dog handler??s car when it was stolen Wednesday afternoon, said South Bend police Capt. Phil Trent.
Lt. Jeff Rynearson grabbed a dog leash out of the trunk but failed to close the lid as he joined the search of a neighborhood for a man accused of resisting arrest, Trent said.
Trent said there will be an investigation. No suspects have been named.
??We??re looking,? Trent said. ??We figure somebody??s got it and is bragging about it.?
Trent did not say exactly how much marijuana was in the trunk, only that it was several pounds. He said it is not uncommon for an officer to have that much marijuana during a dog training session.
??It was set to be destroyed,? he said
